Diversi joins forces with King again for the GDC Scholarship for women/non-binary students.
It is time for Swedens biggest yearly charity game stream - Spelhjälpen
A 26h marathon starting on October 14 at 10:00 AM (CET) with competitions, celebrity guests, previews of upcoming games and more.
This year the benefactors are "Kvinna till kvinna" who describe themselves as such
...'Kvinna till Kvinna literally means ”Woman to Woman”. We strengthen the organisation of women in conflict regions by collaborating with women’s organisations and supporting their work to promote women’s rights and peace. The goal is for women’s power and influence to increase.'
We at Diversi hope Spelhjälpen breaks their previous record of 125'000 SEK and continue being a positive force of gaming culture! ![]()

"Now in its second year, Oculus Launch Pad provides women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, and people from other underrepresented backgrounds funding and resources to ensure diversity of thought in the VR ecosystem. This year, Launch Pad kicks off with a weekend boot camp at Facebook headquarters on June 10 and 11. Creators receive mentoring, hands-on training, and a free Gear VR to playtest their own games and experiences."
"My best GDC moment so far was the panel group of women at King's office this morning where all these awesome professionals shared their valuable insights with us. This was so so inspiring!
Also I got to meet a French women producer yesterday evening who lives in SF. We were supposed to go for a coffee break then ended up having a 3 hours long conversation. We shared our opinions about the industry and she gave me insights about her career and work and how she got to work.
M...eeting this talented and passionate professional was definitely among the most inspiring moments I got to experience as an aspiring woman in games.", Caroline Bitterly Game & Narrative designer

We’re thrilled to announce our second run of the GDC Scholarship for Aspiring Women in Games.
In an effort to further encourage and strengthen the presence of women in the games industry, Diversi in partnership with King will this spring be sending 10 female students to the 2017 Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco.
...The scholarship is open for all female-identifying students with a permanent EU residency and who's pursuing a degree and considering a future in the games industry. We aim to provide them the opportunity to grow their network, exchange ideas and ease the transition from student life to work life.

Hello from the new board!
Hi everyone, my name is Samson Wiklund and I have been elected as the new chairperson for Diversi.
During my predecessor’s steady leadership Diversi accomplished wonderful things during 2015 and the first part of 2016. We have had a presence at both Nordic Game Conference and Game Development Conference in San Francisco where, through the help of our great sponsors (Intel and King respectively), we were able to bring women students to these events to... learn, share and network. The Diversi Podcast was launched and a second season is in the making. Stockholm and Gothenburg local groups got the ball rolling and had their first meet-ups with the public.
Just to name a few things.
To say I had big shoes to fill would be an understatement. ![]()
I thought I'd introduce myself and where I see Diversi going in the following year.
I am a games journalist, currently writing for Swedish IGN (with some freelancing on the side). I also work as a programmer (albeit not in the games biz) to pay the bills. I am a second generation immigrant in Sweden where I live with my three cats and my fiancée.
As we are moving into the second half of the year we are changing some things in the organization - to grow and to have further reach. Our main new endeavour is that we are opening up for members in a much broader sense. Up until now members were chosen and elected to fill specific roles for operational groups or the board.
We are now accepting memberships from anyone who wants to be involved or show support. Memberships will come with a fee (different tiers depending on situation will be in place) and companies will be able to become official supporters. We will keep you posted on the specifics as soon as we have dotted all the i’s and crossed all t’s.
Operationally we will work to bolster and solidify our local groups/chapters, encouraging the organisation’s overall engagement with local events and self hosted meetups.
On a more general note Diversi will seek to lend greater focus to individual areas of concern (e.g. ethnicity, sexuality, physical access) across the range of its activities and programmed events. We will also place greater scrutiny on the types of projects we become involved with - to make sure we aren’t working on just one diversity area.
2016 is also the year where we will push to broaden our international outreach. Working with similar bodies and assisting those who wish to replicate the Diversi scheme in their home countries.
Well, those are in broad strokes the plan that we are working with during my tenure.
TL;DR: Hi, I am the new chair. Name’s Samson. 2016 we are restructuring for new membership types. We are focusing on working with local groups. We are going to work on more diversity areas. We are actively reaching out internationally now.
Keep in touch!
/Samson
