Question for you. I’m thinking of releasing a new, small ‘Angry Bunny’ print. All the profit raised would go to a great local wildlife charity in the UK called ...WRAS. Quick question, no commitment to buy, but do you prefer the circle or the square design here? It would be a timed release, meaning it would be available for 48 hours only. The size of the edition would be determined by the number of prints sold in that time period. I’m thinking it would be a 30cm square, archival giclee print on Fine Art Paper, maybe £30, plus postage.

Maryam Mirzakhani ist verstorben. Ihr wurde als erste Frau die höchste Auszeichnung der Mathematik, die Fields-Medaille, für „herausragende Beiträge zur Geometrie und Dynamik Riemannscher Flächen und ihrer Modulräume“ verliehen.

Der Mathematiker Michael Rao aus Lyon schlägt einen Algorithmus vor, mit dem sich alle Fünfeck-Varianten zweifelsfrei identifizieren lassen sollen, die eine Ebene lückenlos pflastern. Falls das stimmt, wäre ein 100-jähriges Geometrie-Rätsel gelöst. MIT physicist Rainer Weiss, cofounder of the LIGO gravitational-wave experiment, is one of the scientists profiled by Quanta magazine in its new "Thinking Place...s" series. Many of Weiss's insights into building a sensitive gravitational-wave detector originated in a little room known as the Plywood Palace. The building housing that room is gone. Today Weiss does most of his thinking in his basement lab, not in his office: “Nobody thinks at their goddamn desk. They only answer annoying emails and phone calls."
