The government’s decision to scrap the immigration health surcharge for NHS & care workers must be extended to EVERYONE.
We believe that NO ONE should be forced to pay a double tax because of where they’re from.

...Despite this pandemic showing us just how essential shop workers, hospitality staff, cleaners, drivers - to name a few - are to society, as of this year the IHS will be increased from £400 to £624/ year for many of these workers.
The surcharge is a part of this government’s #HostileEnvironment. Those who cannot afford the surcharge will be forced to leave the country or face deportation, or become undocumented.
It forces people to decide between going into debt, or leaving their families behind.
This pandemic must be a wake-up call: we ALL have a right to health & well-being.
It’s time that this government upholds this right - the #HostileEnvironment has no place in the NHS. #PatientsNotPassports
We demand that the immigration health surcharge and all other charges in the NHS are scrapped immediately.

A powerful post from our friends at Migrants Organise, covering just one story of someone wrongly charged for NHS treatment. We don't believe anyone should have to pay to access the NHS - the government should #EndTheHostileEnvironment.
"I am angry: firstly, for the absolute waste of my and our member’s time, fighting over something which should not have been an issue in the first place. I am also angry thinking about what people in Elizabeth’s position would have done if the...y had no support from organisations such as ours. I have a bachelor and master’s degree in law, and it took me one full year to sort this out. Elizabeth is also not the first of our members to have been incorrectly charged, and it’s not the first time that an NHS Trust refused to withdraw the bill, and it certainly won’t be the last."
