10 Years!!!!
I've been in the PMC community for 10 years now. This year's PMC will mark a decade's worth of riding that has garnered $97,000 of donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston....
This year, my goal is $12,000 to help fund cancer research and patient care at the DFCI. Last year the PMC raised $66 Million! This year's goal is $70M, all of which goes directly to the DFCI! How does that happen? Logistics, clothes, food, beer, and all the things that go into the weekend are provided by rider registration fees, corporate sponsorships, and thousands of volunteers. If you're in the Boston area and ride bikes, stop in to long time PMC sponsor Landry Bikes, grab a Harpoon, and enjoy! :)
And we do all this because so many have been affected by cancer. This year, I'm dedicating my ride to my father in law, Dr. Fred Levine, devoted Pop-Pop, lover of Civil War history, and B1G fan. I'm also dedicating my ride to his wife, Patricia, whom we lost at the end of 2022. She was an ardent supporter of my ride year after year, although she thought all of us riders were crazy to spend that much time on our bikes. :)
I ride in memory of Karlin Anderson, devoted mother and amazing friend, Sandy Sullivan, who always opened her home to us students on weekends away from MIT. We’ve lost Wendy Fahning to multiple myeloma, Saco the Barber to stomach cancer, and so many more.
There are many also who have not been lost. Relatives, close friends, co-workers have all had cancers that a few years ago were death sentences, but are now treatable and manageable. New forms of immunotherapy enhance or even replace the painful chemo therapy. This comes in a large part from world class research at Dana Farber and similar top institutes.
So, if you are able, I simply ask for a donation to fight this disease.
In return I will join a few thousand of my closest friends, in a short 2 day ride from Sturbridge, MA to to Provincetown. I will train many hours and endure many bouts of leg cramps. I will bore my Phellow PHat Tuesday team mates with my ever expanding repetoire of stories. I will climb hills and drink gallons of Gatorade. And, as always, I will think of those for whom I ride.
Again, and as always, THANK YOU! for your support, and remember, Cancer SUX!

One week to go!!!!
In one week, 6,300+ of my closest friends and I will put our butts on our bikes, and pedal anywhere from 20 to 192 miles to raise $70 Million for cancer research and patient care at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, as a part of the Pan Mass Challenge.
Why do we do this?
... Because cancer has affected every one of us.
Because DFCI is a top research instittute that has developed and SHARED life saving treatments and technologies with the world.
Because this is a way to make a difference.
Because 100% of every donation to riders like me goes to Dana Farber.
For those who have donated, AWESOME!!!!
For those who are still considering, no time like the present. You can donate here, or via my profile page (pmc.org/profile/me0088)
For those who haven't heard of this, reach out if you want to learn more.
