I'm back now with Charles Terra and Doctor West. so Charles Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. This is him. he compared impeachment agreed to launch and this was back in 19 1990 - eight and interview tune in as the senator from Delaware. He also invoked the term in reference to impeachment Even if the President should be impeached, history is going to question whether or not this was just a partisan launching or whether or not it was something that, in fact, met the standard very high bar that was set by the founders as to what constituted an impeachable offense. He please apologizing tonight, Pologize saying it wasn't the right word to use. He says Trump's chooses words deliberately to stoke racial divides. Is that enough? What do you think of that? again why people stop it. Stop. This language is very specific. It means a particular thing and it means a horrific thing in history by and stop it. Trump stop it. It is very specific and it is horrific right. So it can't be that they think about. Definitions of things you actually can't be used that way right? It can't be about. You know that something that you survived it can't be you know absent the history that is loaded into it in this country which was less you describe in your in your opening statement. It was terrible. It was supposed to be overblown. The Atrial murder right. It wasn't supposed to just kill the person. It was supposed to be theatrical and invite people to the theater and make postcards of what you saw in the theater. But when it happened to others besides people of color, it was just hanging. It was a public hanging. Americans are black folks. they called it specifically launching is right, right? Yeah. and it was the mustard. No no no. That's not true. The only Leo Frank was was lynched when Leo Frank was lynched. He was a Jewish brother who was lynched. They lunch Catholics. They launched a number of folks. Lynch was targeted of black people and people of color, but there was a lynching that embrace Catholics and Jews and others the Klux Klan Zero in on Jews and Catholics and black folk disproportionately so it was. It was still lynching, but I think brother Charles this point, it is a good one that the very notion that Biden could use that s that same kind of language. and we have to be honest, Oh, brother Clarence Thomas with his right wing. So the high-tech in the night exactly see all of a sudden you get the deodorizing of something that is a crime against humanity. That's listen to that all the ugly stuff. From my standpoint as a Black American, as far as I'm concerned, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity Blacks who, in any way, Dane to think for themselves to do for themselves to have different ideas. and it is a message that unless you cow town to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched destroyed caricatured. By a Committee of the US US Senate folks didn't like that then well at least he was black when he used the term. I mean look, I think that in certain search circumstances you're using verbal hyperbole to make a point and they were qualifiers and is it you know is that a term that we should use? probably not just like Holocaust. You don't really use that to describe anything in in in any other context. they want the harsh that it was in. I just think that. The situation like this specifically with Trump and the way that the the right is trying to justify this is really just so this intellectually dishonest. I mean like I said Rush Limbaugh saying that lunching trying to tell people has nothing to do with African Americans. What are you gonna tell us next? The N word has nothing to do with African-Americans either. That's not the real definition of it. I mean it's astonishing that they're trying to convince people that this is perfectly okay to use in this context. it's just not and Trump knew like Biden said he used it deliberate. That was a deliberate term. He typed it out and chose that for a reason and it's completely inappropriate and despicable. Is there a difference? a doctor West between Thomas, making that sort of accusation versus the President? Well, the difference is that Thomas and and and and people who are beautifully black like him have been the victims of this proportionally as opposed to a vanilla brother of vanilla sister, but he's still wrong. He still wrong because it allows the uses of the term to become so normalized that you act as if it was not tied to crimes against humanity formed American terrorism, LinkedIn, Neil Slavery in that way. and and I think again though the stress has to be to the response. You see we black folk have never looked White supremacy in the eye and didn't come out fighting at our best. The question becomes. how do we come out fighting? Now we got fashions and running a foot. You got disregard of rule of law. You got to balcony ization of the populous. You've got the devaluing and escape goating of the week, especially the Mexicans and Muslims and poor and black and Brown so that democracy is being imploded as it were and you have to come up. Ways of awakening, moral, spiritual and political that allow for the democracy to go to to move forward. This is why if things don't work, the way the system is, we gotta hit the streets. We gotta go to jail. That's exactly what out now is all about next Saturday. Every set. it's gonna be like Puerto Rico. It's gonna be like like Hong Kong, the people have to speak with their feet. If the electrical political system is too weak, the Republicans are. The Democrats not moving fast enough and would buy them using the language that he used. That mean he just disqualifies himself. Thank God for Brother Bernie and others you just disqualify yourself and having any moral authority when it comes to this kind of crime against you man. Alright, you know very quickly. I gotta run what is this but it both both Thomas and and and Trump are centering whiteness but it's just Thomas was appealing to White guilt and and and Trump is appealing to White supremacy, but it's always the devaluing of that language basically sinners the White audience. Over the Blackwood and discards the black pain that goes along with that language, we have to remember that both of those that's right. Trump isn't the victim. Trump has been the victim. The Republic is, yeah. thank you all. I appreciate it back in a moment.
