Our friends at Information Services are advertising a 3 month post for students working with the Internet of Things. This is a really cool opportunity to learn more about MicroPython, IoT and LoRa.
You have nothing to lose by applying, but it would be a lot of fun, so why not give it a shot?
Thanks to everyone that came to the electronics workshop last night, we hope you all had fun
In case you want to go over the material again in your own time or you missed the workshop, we've put the slides up here with annotations.
A write up and photos will follow shortly!
The tickets for our first event are nearly sold out! You can still get yours here (goo.gl/7VICto)!
If you already have a ticket but can no longer go, please don't forget to cancel your booking! This way someone else can get it instead
The University of Edinburgh Embedded and Robotics Society (EaRS) is excited to announce our very first event! It will be held in uCreate Studio, a fantastic new maker space, on Monday 17 April 18:00-21:00.
Starting off with building your first circuit, we will then take you through some basic components, including how they work and what they are used for. You will learn about LEDs, resistors, capacitors and more alongside how to put together electronics and making sure it wor...ks. There will also be many opportunities to make new friends and get to know the other members of the society through fun activities and games.
Difficulty level 1/10: No prior electronics knowledge required. Basic understanding of concepts such as voltage, current, resistance will be helpful but not necessary. Everything will be explained from the basics. This event is aimed firmly at beginners, but if you are more experienced and still want to get involved, let us know (https://ears-edi.github.io/contact.html), we're always looking for extra mentors and expertise.
We are well into planning the first ever EaRS event!
It's gonna be held in uCreate Studio in the Main Library, a really cool maker space that is opening soon. Be sure to check out their page!
