Edmonton Fire Rescue Services is reminding citizens that pets are safest at home, and not in a hot vehicle.

If you see an animal trapped in a hot vehicle, please assess the situation to determine if an animal is in distress.

If the animal does not appear to be in distress, call 311. However, if the animal is in noticeable distress, call 911 and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services will take any necessary action to remove the animal from the harmful situation.

Due to the cooler more humid weather, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services has lifted the fire ban in Edmonton.

Edmontonians are now able to utilize open burning permits, fireworks, backyard fire pits, and recreational cook stoves in parks, provided they are used with caution. Backyard fire pits must meet all the fire pit requirements as outlined by the Community Standards Bylaw.

Please remember there is currently a province wide fire ban in place in Alberta.

The fire ban prohibits open burning, fireworks, backyard fire pits, cooking stoves in parks, and BBQs using solid fuels. Any fire appliance that creates an ash or ember will be prohibited during the fire ban.
All fire permits are suspended and no new fire permits will be issued.

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Alberta Fire Bans map. Please refer to Fire Advisory, Restriction and Ban windows on the left hand side of the website, for a full list of notifications.
