Elk Grove since 1965. Obviously I have seen many changes -
young as well as us older folks. Looking forward to what's
next. Sincerely , proud resident..
What about other rules not enforced?
cars-vans with co. writing
cabs parked in drives
12 people living one house
dead village trees-dang
decks installed permit?
I'm sure my two little bushes will make a big impact on the beauty of Elk Grove.
He knows everything
Watch out Elk Grove, Jeff Snyder is better than you and all of us. I just wanted to make sure he gets the credit he deserves!

On February 15, Fire Station 10 on Meacham officially closed for reconstruction. Retired Fire Lieutenant Mike Turner, who worked in Fire Station 10 on the day it opened, joined the crew at Station 10 in a “Final Roll Call” prior to the closing.
All personnel and equipment have relocated to the trailer and garage at the Biesterfield Public Works facility. Personnel will operate there and the fire engine and ambulance will respond from there until the new fire station is completed in the first quarter of 2019.

IRS TELEPHONE SCAM ALERT
The @Internal Revenue Service has issued a warning for consumers to guard against sophisticated and aggressive phone scams targeting taxpayers as this crime continues to rise nationwide. Potential victims may be told they are entitled to big refunds, or that they owe money that must be paid immediately to the IRS. When unsuccessful the first time, sometimes phone scammers call back trying a new strategy.
The IRS will always send taxpayers a written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail. The IRS never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone. For more information or to report a scam, visit www.irs.gov.

Special thanks to Enclave for Entrepreneurs at O'hare for hosting this month's BLF luncheon. The topic focused on How to Build a Talent Pipeline.
Several great speakers joined us to motivate our businesses to take action and close the skills gap. We looked at the current market trends, talked about why business culture matters and emphasized the value of apprenticeship programs.
The personnel and equipment from Fire Station 10 at 676 Meacham, have been moved into a temporary fire station, immediately adjacent to the Public Works facility on Biesterfield Road. The fire engine and Ambulance will respond from the public works garage, under an arrangement made between the two Village departments.
The Fire Station at 676 Meacham is now vacant, and will soon be demolished to make way for the new fire station that will be constructed on the same site.

VILLAGE & FIRE UNION SIGN FIVE YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
At the Village Board Meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, the Elk Grove Village Firefighters Association, Local 2340, International Association of Firefighters, signed a five-year extension to their collective bargaining agreement with the Village of Elk Grove Village beginning May 1, 2019. The new agreement now solidifies hours, wages and working conditions through its expiration on April 30, 2024.
Both the Village an...d the Firefighters Union are pleased with the results of this extension agreement.
With the approval of this extension, the Village now has long-term contracts in place with both Fire and Public Works unions. The Public Works union is under a five-year contract ending in 2021—the longest term ever between the Village and the Public Works union. These long-term agreements are a result of the good working relationship the Village maintains with our local unions and they continue our long history of reaching agreements that are fair to both the taxpayers and the employees.
Congratulations to High School District 214 superintendent, Dr. David Schuler – he was just named the 2018 National Superintendent of the Year!
It is snowing again and expected to continue until around Noon. The Village has experienced several periods of snow banding, when snow falls at a much greater rate or intensity than some of the surrounding areas.
A small Village crew was activated at 1:30 AM Sunday to ensure that the Arterials and Secondary routes remained open for emergency response (See Arterial & Secondary routes: http://www.elkgrove.org/home/showdocument?id=6481). The full complement of Village staff an...d plows began a village wide plowing operation at 4 AM.
Typically for a snow event of this type with the expected snowfall of 3 to 6 inches it requires approximately eight hours to clear the streets after the snow stops. The plowing operation will likely require that plows revisit the areas plowed earlier in the day which will extend this operation into the afternoon.
IT IS CRITICAL TO REMEMBER TO KEEP VEHICLES OFF OF THE STREETS TO ALLOW THE PLOWS TO DO THEIR WORK AND NOT TO PLACE OR SNOWBLOW SNOW INTO THE ROAD--BOTH ACTIONS ARE ILLEGAL AND YOU MAY BE FINED.
Update from the storm event earlier this week:
The Village Crews were able to complete the Saturday Cleanup Phase earlier than expected and released the crews for some well-earned rest. The Village staff would like to express our gratitude for the many compliments and cooperation.
After being released from our plowing operations the crews still needed to return to their homes and often had to clear the own driveways, get some food and rest to return for the next operational period.
The dedication of the Village staff in the Fire, Police and Public Works Departments coupled with the cooperation and people helping their neighbors has made combating this long duration snow event a success and reinforced for everyone what makes Elk Grove Village the Exceptional Community!
