Went there with my best friend just to hang out downtown. The food is priced very reasonably (we had 3 meals and 3 drinks for $32). The plates are not to big an...d not to small. We never had to wait longer then 10 mins for a seat they only reason we had to wait at all was because we didn't want to sit at the bar. We were also there during happy hour and still got seated in 10 mins.
The only thing I would say could change is the menu descriptions. For example, they have a section on the menu for soups and salads. It doesn't say which item is a soup or a salad. My friend order something that he thought was soup but, it was a salad (still ate it and it was delicious.) عرض المزيد

Dining at El Rey brought me back to my native Mexico, the ambiance, the decor and the aroma of delicious food was simply a prelude to the feast that followed! I tried the "Tumbada" (Paella Veracruz style) with the epazote scented rice, squid, chicken and shrimp. It was simply delicious!

My girlfriend and I travel to Philly every year for a holiday trip and we went to dinner at El Ray. Truly excellent authentic Mexican food. Cool chill atmosphere and woukd recommend to anyone that is looking for a great meal and a good price

El Rey is always good food! The Alhambra was delicious! We arrived at exactly the right moment because we were seated within minutes on New Years Eve, even thou...gh the restaurant was packed. Service was a tad slow this time, but it seemed like that was because they were swamped with NYE reservations. It's always been attentive and quick, so I think this was just a fluke. عرض المزيد

My husband and I were visiting from Indiana. I found your restaurant through google I was very impressed with the taste of all your food. We had your quesadilla... de huitlacoche, pork sopes, chips and salsa, and tortilla soup wow they were delish!!! Your tamarindo margarita blew my mind. Our waitress was excellent! We stumbled upon this fine restaurant on our way to the helium comedy club. The service the food the drinks were all second to none. I highly recommend.

I took my boys their for the first time. The food is excellent. We had the special 18 inch quesadilla and it was amazing. The margaritas are great too. It's well worth the wait

My boyfriend and I went for lunch and got a little bit of everything. A few different kinds of tacos, enchiladas, corn on the cob and the queso fundido con chor...izo. Unless you are just having happy hour drinks it is not worth it. The food tried to be traditional Mexican but fell short. My dish didn't even get to the table hot. And my wife's beef was chewy.

Stopped in for lunch just yesterday... The food was fantastic, the service was good, and the decor was amazing!!! Its retro vibe was refreshing and different. I'll surely go back. :)

El Rey was a cool, laid back and delish. I frequent at El Vez but get frustrated on the saturday night wait, being as this is also a steven star restaurant I figured it has to be good. I was right, this might now be my new spot!

My friends & I ate there last night .Everything was SOOO GOOD. I had the brisket tacos & the mexican corn.The Red Sangria was on point !!!

We popped in about 6:30 on a Friday night. It was quite busy & no seats were available at the bar so it was no surprise when the hostess informed us of the 35 ...minute wait. I barely took my coat off when some seats opened up at the bar. The Guava Margarita was DIVINE. About 10 minutes later, our table was ready. Our waitress, Laura, was so pleasant and gave us some suggestions since it was our 1st time there. I ordered the Carnitas Tacos, Elote (Corn on the cob) and Horchata. We ended the night by sharing a flan. I was surprised by the flan since it wasn't the typical custard dessert. It was more like a cake, Even so, it was delicious! Everything was on point. All our food came quickly and Laura was extremely attentive. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I will highly recommend this restaurant in the future! عرض المزيد
