A sweet story from our archives: North Carolina nurse helps families of premature babies have a happy Halloween.

More Halloween news:

...hugs, high fives, a nurse reminding me that i should (again) get a haircut and perhaps shave ...but most importantly dropping off all the clothing and gift cards from this years campaign.

we can't thank everyone enough for their generosity and caring drive us to keep going harder. next year we'll be back again tugging at your heart strings and emptying your wallets.

another successful drop off at the KGH #nicu #emmettsnicucampaign complete for another year ...and the nurses gave him a card filled with birthday wishes and cash

...the last couple of hours of procrastinators sending their donations has pushed us to our (unannounced) goal!!

We made it to $5000 this year in cash donations! (plus $1000 from Foley & Sutherland Insurance and Financial Services Inc. to the UHKF on our behalf)

We spent half of it on clothing as the amount of clothing donations we received this year was less than last year (not complaining - people sent cash for us to shop instead) and the other half on Gas Gift Cards and Tim Hortons Cards (not as much as gas cards to offset parking fees but enough to get a bunch of parents a light lunch and some coffee without having to go too far away)

We cannot thank you enough for your support once again of our little fundraising initiative. Emmett is moved by your generosity and is flabergasted by the amount of baby clothes we've bought in the last few days.

Huge thanks to Justin and Tim @ Kingston Frontenacs for their generosity repeatedly over the last few years of our campaign, Awesome Foundation - Kingston for their generous donation, Kingston Whig-Standard, K-Rock 105.7 (Sideshow especially), Response I.T. for their contribution, our NICU Nurse Liaison Sharon Kyer (who was the first nurse to let me hold Emmett outside of the isolette and challenged me to not be scared of my baby) and of course to my photographer colleagues who once again proved that our community of artists combine to make our city a better place... love you all.

Finally a tremendous thanks to my wife / Emmett's mom Stephanie Jesshope ...who had the original idea of making this happen on Emmett's first birthday and let me run with it over the last 7 years to grow it to what it is today.

WOW!!! We made our goal with only a couple of hours to spare ...i didn't want to publicly announce a goal but we had one in our discussion

See you next September...

just a little info for you ...we picked up $1700 worth of gas cards today ($25 each) and $300 in tim hortons gift cards ($15 each
- just enough for a light lunch for a parent or two on the main floor of KGH) and another $1000 worth of preemie and newborn clothes.

we still have a few days to go and we've crossed over $4200 mark for fundraising ...PLUS a bunch of clothing arriving in the mail every day from our friends (that's you)

we love you all. we thank you so much for your support again this year. it's not too late to buy something and send it to us (or we can pick it up locally) or send some dolla bills (the electronic kind) and we'll put it to good use.

my heart is full, my mind has exploded repeatedly and i'm hashtag blessed (is that enough cliché for you in one sentence?) with every one of your messages, your support and your love and support for what we do every year.

...i'll write a nice thank you piece when we're all done, but know that you're making babies happy and parents relieved ...that's all that matters.

a little press for us today ...

The Kingston family of a premature baby who spent the first seven weeks of his life in Kingston General Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in 2009 continues to give back to the unit and families who find themselves there.

Just got a call from the Kingston Whig-Standard today and did a little interview ...Emmett's gonna get a little newspaper press as we rally up the last 2 weeks of our annual fundraising campaign.

We still have a couple of photographers to raffle off, still have a couple of prizes kicking around in the tickle trunk for people that donate $50 or more in cash or equivalent in baby clothes ...

the NICU is a special place to us (and so many other families) and we love all your support ...and so do the tiny little babies we try to help.

so we pitched for $1000 from Awesome Foundation - Kingston for our annual #nicu donation to KGH AND WE WON!!!!

We're so proud of the work our little guy has been putting into what we do every September to make the lives of parents with kids in the NICU a little less stressful by getting them things they need while they’re at the hospital. thanks awesome kingston... second time was the charm of us - we lost last year but we got it this year ...preemie and newborn clothes - here we come!

man the smile on the kid's face was amazing tonight when they announced that we were the recipient of the funds this month... what an awesome organization in our community. Thanks Awesome Kingston!

We've been invited back to to the Awesome Foundation - Kingston $1000 pitch party to vie for the money, Sept 21 at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre (you should join us and cheer us on)

we made it last year but didn't get the money... this year i'm bringing Emmett with me to up the cute factor and get dat money yo.

Our good buddies / colleagues @ Definitive Entertainment Productions have offered to donate a full dj / light production set up for any event (staff party / christmas party, wedding, other events)

He's my favorite wedding DJs in the PEC / Quinte / Kingston area and he brings it properly with an amazing production (not just one rack of light and an itunes playlist) ...he makes your dancefloor come alive with 30+ years as a club DJ.

the value of this package is $2500 ...we'd l...ike to get at least $1500 for this so that's the minimum donation but we'll take more ...he's worth every cent as your party / wedding DJ he makes that dance floor rock.

We are blown away by the support of our professional wedding vendor colleagues and love our network of friends more than you can imagine. Jason may have actually left me speechless with this donation (ok, not really because i'm never speechless but holy shit it was an amazing donation)
