We first meet for lessons for my less than confident daughter who wouldn't canter her horse within two sessions Tammy was cantering with a big smile on her face. Since then I have been having regular... sessions with a very awkward partbred Arab. We have been trailer training young horses and have found she has given good sound advice and with a sense of humour. She instills calm and confidence. If you need your boxes mucked out shes your lady as well does a great job. Came home to a spotless yard great job saved me hours. Looking forward to my next lesson See More

I had lessons with Senara for almost a year. Afterwards, I still had a chance to watch her teach. No matter what age her students were, she made the lessons fun and always aimed to improve the horse a...nd the rider. Instead of "squeezing you into the perfect picture", she talks you through on what you and your horse still need to work on. And then works with you step by step. She also helped me with my confidence and I could always ask her questions. Love her positive approach! See More

Senara helped me out so much with the young thoroughbred I brought. She helped us to get ourselves going and taught me exactly what I needed to make him into the awesome horse he is today! Absolutely ...recommend Senara!!! See More

The few months of coaching I had with Senara were incredibly helpful to my riding, and I absolutely love her humorous approach to life. Such a relatable person who makes everything easy to understand ...while pushing her riders and their horses to achieve the best they can. Love love love her! See More

Senarai is an amazing coach. I did not take up riding until I was in my early forties. I am now in my late fifties and would not still be riding if it wasn't for the great coaching and support I recei...ved from Senara. See More

Teaching lateral movements to a rider who has little experience executing them on an ex race TB that has not done much of this work, if any can be a challenge. I teach by feel, as if I was preparing for the movement and riding it myself. Shoulder fore is a really useful flat work exercise. It helps develop straightness, improves balance, encourages horse to bring hind legs further under body improving toward bringing the horse off the forehand. For the rider it increases awareness of weight aids and the need to give clear aids as well as drawing their attention to varying degrees of flexion, bend and of course straightness. This combo did a great job over the weekend. Well done.
It's a wild and stormy night and there is nothing more comforting than the sound of horses munching hay.

Only 10 more sleeps to go before the clocks change....Evening sessions have already started. If you would like a weekly or fortnightly slot call me 07572360803

Thoroughly enjoyed my morning. Super sessions. Thanks ladies for making my job fun and rewarding. Apologies for not getting any pics of the last group. I think I can safely say it was a positively constructive morning. Thank you.

Kyrewood Equestrian Centre

Hi all,

It is with much regret that we need to advise that Kyrewood Equestrian Centre will cease operation in its current form, effective on Saturday 31st March... 2018. Kyrewood has been teaching people to ride and enjoy horses for 50 years now (50 years!) but it's time for a fresh perspective, and new operators. We are placing the property on the market via Bayleys in the next couple of weeks, and we genuinely hope that there will be someone out there who can continue to operate Kyrewood with the same passion and commitment that Fred and Pauline Gorton did for so many years.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of you who have contributed to its operation over the decades. In particular I'd like to thank Rachel Rae, Nicky McBride, and Nicola Stuart for 'going the extra mile' over the last few years while Mum and Dad stepped back from the business. They've done Kyrewood proud in many ways, and we're very grateful for their efforts.
I'm sure we all have many, many colourful stories about our involvement with Kyrewood Riding School (as it used to be known), and I can only hope that there is a new potential operator out there who will provide the basis for many more good stories in the years to come.
There will be a number of things to tidy up as the teaching operation comes to an end, and I'm sure that Nicola and Nicky will be happy to help where they can. If any further assistance is required, please feel free to contact me at, and I'll do what I can to help.

All the best,
Peter and Mark Gorton and Louise Ward
