The 20th expansion to EVE Online before a two year break that saw EVE Online's development cycle ramp up pace to deliver faster paced content releases, Rubicon brought major changes to a number of core gameplay elements. The certificate system was completely overhauled, along with the character selection screen, supplementing the introduction of player owned high-sec customs officers, new ghost site anomalies and brand new hacking mechanics as part of an... exploration overhaul.

The introduction of in-client twitch streaming, as well as new mobile deployable structures and the first Sisters of EVE faction battlecruiser, frigate and battleship helped diversify the hull lineup in New Eden, along with overhauls of Marauders, Interceptors, Interdictors and Electronic Attack Frigates.

Redesigned station visuals, along with an increase in maximum corporation size, a new ship tree to display visual training progression and further UI improvements rounded of a deep and feature filled expansion.

The Odyssey expansion featured an extensive overhaul of EVE Online's exploration mechanics, as well as adding a new radial navigation tool to the user interface. Animated system scanning, dynamic travel transitions and a whole new hacking system and site was introduced to further challenge exploration based players.

New navy issue battlecruisers, an improved soundscape building on the new audio engine deployed with Retribution, plus improvements to starbases and outposts further evolved the exploration and colonization aspects of EVE gamplay. A complete balance pass on all navy ships, as well as the redistribution of ice belts as anomalies rather than static locations, and the introduction of dual character training topped off a feature packed expansion.

A massive expansion that focused on overhauling the entire criminal and combat flagging system in EVE, Retribution also brought four new destroyer class hulls, re-balanced frigate, cruiser and destroyer ship roles as well as improvements to NPC artificial intelligence.

In addition to this, a full overhaul of the bounty system, the addition of a new mining frigate, improvements to the combat user interface and the addition of a new safety system to prevent accidental CONCORDOKKEN were also introduced, along with a new dynamic audio engine to improve immersion.

The 17th expansion for EVE Online, Inferno introduced a complete overhaul of the war declaration and factional warfare systems, as well as new 3D models for all missile launchers and missiles in New Eden. Significant visual updates also came for all Amarr ships, as well as updates to the kill report system, adding a UI dedicated to displaying kill reports.

Updates to incursions, along with the addition of an effects bar to allow pilots to see targeted effects influencing the performance of their their ships more clearly were also introduced. Further additions were made to the character creator and 17 new modules were introduced to further expand tactical options in combat and ensure that every fitting has a solid counter.

Crucible focused heavily on refinements to existing game mechanics, and included a significant overhaul of many systems in EVE. New nebula graphics, an overhaul of many aspects of the ship fitting window, as well as the introduction of new Attack battlecruisers and time dilation were only a couple of highlights of this conflict focused expansion.

Hundreds of minor enhancements to gameplay were also included with this expansion including simplified fuel usage for starbases, an increase in the number of deadspace anomalies in game, the introduction of a new game launcher, new textures and skins for all sub capital Gallente and Caldari ships, more detailed killmails, a whole host of new Tech II modules, captains quarters for all four races and many more quality of life changes.

The Incarna expansion brought a full visual overhaul of all turrets, mining lasers, tractor beams and salvager design and animation, as well as the initial rollout of the Minmatar captains quarters. Also included in Incarna was the rollout of the NeX (Noble Exchange), an in-game store front allowing players to buy vanity items to customize their avatars.

Changes to jump bridge mechanics and a redesign of the hull for the Maller class cruiser were also i...ncluded in this expansion.

While not the most popular of EVE Online's expansions, Incarna marked a turning point for the development of New Eden as focus was placed firmly back on spaceship related content and the wars waged by players in space.

Incursion brought the previous several month's live events to life with a full fledged invasion of empire space by Sansha's Nation, which was coupled with the introduction of a new Sansha mothership, the Revenant, along with the Shadow class Sansha's Nation fighter bomber.

In addition to this, the Noctis class salvaging vessel was introduced, along with an overhauled character creation system that updated portraits and character rendering with the new "...Carbon" character creator.

Incursion also saw the removal of the learning skill tree from EVE, as well as a number of storyline focused events, iteration on planetary interaction and an overhaul of the EVE Online official forums to link them with EVE Gate.

The Tyrannis expansion focused heavily on capsuleer interaction with planets, allowing pilots to exploit the surfaces of worlds across the cluster for valuable minerals and materials with the introduction of industrial infrastructure designed to be placed on the surface of planets.

Tyrannis also brought the introduction of EVE Gate, web based access to EVEmail and communications tools that allowed EVE players to interact through the game from outside the... EVE client for the first time.

Hundreds of new landmarks were also added to New Eden, bringing more context and representation to many aspects of EVE Online's backstory to the game environment.
