Brooke always has the most relevant insights into the human condition
A topic that I find compelling is what we do when we find ourselves in darkness - how do we react, lash out, pull others in? I was in Thailand when I found the ...inspiration for this image at the White Temple, looking at tons of sculpted hands reaching out from pits. I thought, immediately, of creating an image around it. Some people, when in darkness, pull others down with them. Others reach hands out for help. Maybe you identify with one or the other - maybe both. It is all so human to want others to share your pain, or to get help for your pain - or maybe both. To be understood, to be seen, and ultimately to be human, as savage or ugly as that may feel sometimes. It is what shapes our lives.
How do you relate?

Wild Kookaburra - this is another example where the conditions meant the original image was not ideal for photography. But with some careful TAW processing and additional work in Photoshop, a below average image suddenly becomes a WOW! image

Returned home from 10 days photographing in Melbourne and a catchup with local digital artists from Australia and NZ. Got to see parts of the city and the state I have never visited before. Many memorable highlights, including some night shooting at Docklands. This was a 7 minute exposure, tinted purple/blue to reflect how very cold it was that evening!
