I'm sure that the family history of incoming U.S. president-elect Donald Trump will provide genealogists with interesting research twists and turns over the next few years. For starters, here's a story about Mr. Trump's adventurous grandfather.

In March 1918, a new strain of flu started spreading through an Army training camp in Kansas. It soon became a worldwide epidemic and by the time all was said and done 100 million people had died. Years later, my own grandmother would tell me how she survived this dread disease. She lived to be 97 years old.
