We’re introducing music to seven new countries in EMEA, and rolling-out the availability of our interactive video products across more of the region.
We’ve been working with music partners around the world to help people connect and express themselves through music across the Facebook family of apps.
Today, we’re announcing the launch of music on Facebook and Instagram in The Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Romania and Slovakia — bringing music to products across our platform in over 30 countries across EMEA.
People in these countries will now have the ability to include music from a vast catalog of international and local songs in the personal videos they create and share. Starting today, they can also creatively express themselves with the use of our music features on Facebook and Instagram.
Music on Stories
As of today, people in these countries will be able to add a song to their photos and videos on their Stories. Simply open the camera on Instagram or Facebook, or select a photo or video from your gallery, touch the sticker icon and add the Music sticker.
After choosing a song, you will be able to select which part of it you would like to highlight on your story, and add the artist's name and track title. If the song has lyrics available, they will automatically pop up. Tap through the icons to change the animation and text style, and move the lyrics around, rotate or resize it like you would a normal sticker.
Lip Sync Live on Facebook
People will also have access to Lip Sync Live, which allows you to express yourself by singing along to music from a variety of genres. Friends can check out your performance in real time and follow the lyrics of the songs while you have fun together.
To create one, just select the "Lip Sync Live" option when starting a Live on Facebook. After choosing a song, you can also add a description and customize the video with filters or a background. During live streams, your friends will see the name of the artist and song featured on the video and be able to directly tap to follow the singer or band on Facebook.
Music on your Facebook Profile
Can't forget a very catchy song? Or do you have a new favorite (or old classic) that all your friends should know about? Now you can also add videos with music to a new music section on your Facebook Profile.
In addition, you can pin songs at the top of your Profile so your friends can learn more about your musical taste. Songs fixed to your Profile will visually show the artist and the track.
When your friends play a song on your Profile, they will be able to hear a clip on Facebook or tap through to listen to the complete track on a streaming platform. They can add the same song to their Profiles or click to visit the singer or band's Page.
Lyrics in IG Music Stickers
In addition to adding music to Stories, connecting with artists and sending song recommendations back and forth, there are lots of ways to connect with music on Instagram. Now, you can add lyrics when you add a song to your story.
You can search from a library of songs and choose the one that best fits your mood in the moment. If the song has lyrics, they will automatically pop up, and you can use the lyrics as a reference point to select the section of the song you’d like to include. Tap the lyrics to change the animation and text style and customize how you’d like.
Music Questions Sticker in IG
The popular Instagram Stories questions sticker also now has music! Your friends can respond to your questions sticker with a song from the music library - and you can then share your favorites to your story. Sending music back and forth has always been a way to connect with friends, and now, if you need some ideas for your summer party playlist or your commute, you can do it through Instagram Stories. There are also new visual effects in the Music format on Stories that respond to beat and sound, so you can pick your favorite song and dance it out.
What’s to Come
We’re excited to work together with music partners around the world to bring these features to life in new markets. We look forward to continuing to innovate together to create new ways for music to be a part of the way people share, connect and express themselves on our platforms.
