Thank you to the crew of Station 35 (Pohick) for responding when the gas company told my wife to call 911 after she and my 6-month old son came home to the sound of a carbon monoxide alarm. The crew c...hecked the house for carbon monoxide levels and determined the alarm was sounding because it had reached the normal end of its life. We're grateful for the speed and professionalism with which they treated what could have been a serious situation. I neglected to note the company number that responded, though I do know they were from Station 35 - so please convey my thanks to them! See More

Just want to give a huge shout out to all the members of fairfax county’s fire and rescue department that were so helpful and informative today as they dealt with the gas leak on my street they made s...ure we stayed posted every step of the way - they kept things light in what could have become a very stressful situation as well as working with us after evacuations for safety happened for a couple homes the guys & gals that were on scene where in point and I can’t thank them enough! One of their own commits suicide, then another quits under protest and literally nothing is being done to fix this situation? This is absolutely abhorrent and should be dealt with by firing all top br...ass in the department.

Oh and sexual harassment, online bullying, and other "boys clubs" things that happen need to be stopped. Not tomorrow, but decades ago. For the sake of the people you serve let other, more qualified people step in.

On our way back to our car parked in a plaza on Old Keene Mill, some kind firefighters asked if my son and some other kids (also on their way to their car) would like to check out the Fairfax County F...ire & Rescue fire engine they just parked. So fun!

They were happy to have the kids look around and told us that they want to be approached by the community. Many thanks to those Burke and West Springfield branch firefighters!!

Huge thanks to Fairfax Fire department truck 436 (Frying Pan). We ran into them at the Food lion and they showed my kids the truck, turned on the lights and siren, and made their day! What a great Xma...s present! Unbeknownst to my son, Santa already got him a firetruck for Xmas, so he is going to be so excited now when he opens that present! Thank you all for such a kind gesture for my family! See More

If you think these guys are doing a good job, you need to read the Washington Post stories about how cruelly and horribly sexist the fire dept is. Maybe these dudes will save your home if they get the...re in time. But meanwhile, they'll act like dickheads and drive their female colleagues to suicide. Lovely. See More

If how you treat your female colleagues is any indication of your professionalism I would never trust you to help my family. #washingtonpost #timesup

I just want to take a moment and highlight the incredible first responders Fairfax Fire & Rescue employ. The day after the snowstorm, last week, as my husband went to get into his cruiser, he slipped... on a patch of ice and dislocated his shoulder. I'm told both the sound his shoulder made and his shout of pain were quite loud. Luckily for us though, one of our amazing new neighbors happens to be a Fairfax EMT and was also just coming out his door at the same time it happened! Small favors, right?!?! As my husband struggled to get off the ice with his arm dangling like something from a scene in Walking Dead, this gentleman rose to the occasion in his jacket that proudly identified him as one of Fairfax finest. He made eye contact with my husband as he got into his car and ever watchful, kept his eyes locked on him as he cruised on past in his vehicle while DH still struggled to get off the ice and the ground. I mean, wow. Bravo. Never before have I seen a first responder care so much about others that he would take the time out of his day to help someone clearly in need. I only hope that, should he ever find himself in need of reciprocal aid in an accident or such, he receives the exact same. Kudos Fairfax. You've come an incredibly long way with the caliber of people you employ since you cleaned house of those with an affinity for Fairfax Underground. I'm so exceedingly thankful to know that should we ever be in need of aid from medics or fire, we are safely ensconced in Prince William County. See More

Thank you to the team of heroes who helped me yesterday (3/18) after I fell down a hill hiking near Great Falls! I don't know your names, but every one of you was extremely kind, professional, and to...ok very good care of me. You got me to the hospital quickly and safely. I'm fortunate to have only dislocated my shoulder and grateful you were there to help. Sorry I got your jeep and ambulance muddy! See More

I know there's a lot of (justified) controversy regarding your firefighters right now, so I just wanted to post regarding a great experience with some of your crew today! My family and I had enjoyed a... day at Great Falls and were loading up my 5 month old and my 2 year old when my oldest spotted one of your trucks in a parking lot. He got so excited! Your guys were so kind to totally humor him, driving by carefully and giving him a hat to take home. He's still wearing it. I'm a Peds ER nurse and work with a lot of Fire/Rescue personnel, and I know you are all busy - thanks for taking some time to make a little boy's day! See More

According to the National Weather Service, there is a potential for heavy rain and flash flooding tonight through Sunday evening. When heavy rain and flash flooding occur, you can assume there will be a few roadways in the area that will be impacted as well. Unfortunately, our firefighters can also assume there will be several calls for help as people attempt to drive their cars through flooded roadways only to stall and become trapped.

According to the Centers for Disease Co...ntrol and Prevention, over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into flood water. Many people under estimate, and do not understand, the power and force of water.

Please take a moment to watch the below video, from our friends at the National Weather Service, which highlights the danger.

Be aware and be prepared.
