Up for the football - as always armed with the good beer guide we look for quality cask ale pubs and the Fat Cat hits the bell. Awesome pork pies and great range of ales. The Titanic plum porter was s...uperb and good reports from the lads for the damson porter also along with the ESB. Toilets immaculate also and the staff friendly and helpful. See More

A fabulous pub and a wonderous range of beers, the only real drawback is that it is in Norwich and I live in Worcester.....apart from that, perfect !!

Mind boggling selection of beers...all the ones I sampled were in great condition. Could perhaps do with a few more darker beers to break up the wall to walk IPA though.
Friendly kind of place on bot...h sides of the bar and somewhere I will undoubtedly visit again next time I'm in the area 🍺 See More

This is the best pub in the country in my opinion. Unfortunately we can only visit occasionally when we visit family in Norwich. It is on our itinerary every time we come. Their range of beers is seco...nd to none and has one of the largest selection of real ciders I've seen. It is not surprising it is always in the Good Beer Guide and voted best pub in the county. The landlord and staff are very good and knowledgeable about the beer and cider they have. There are two more Fat Cat pubs in the city but this is the original and in my opinion the best. It's a fair walk from the city centre but well worth it. See More

As a visitor to Norwich for a couple of nights, I was delighted to stumble across the Fat Cat. A lovely traditional "drinkers" pub, a fabulous selection of real ales, very friendly & helpful staff, a ...great atmosphere all bundled in a fantastic time capsule exactly the same as the old pubs my father took me to as a youngster....
The customers were all so friendly, enjoying great beer, & lively conversation, if only this pub was nearer to me. I won't hesitate to visit it again the next time I stay in the area.
I normally stay in hotels, but couldn't find one within my budget on this occasion, so stayed in a guest house a few hundred yards away, as a result of enjoying the Fat Cat so much, I'll be staying in the same guest house next time as well!!

I simply love this pub. A great selection of beers, and the atmosphere is always good. It never fails to amaze me how constantly busy it is, and my dog loves it almost as much as I do!

I'd just moved into the area and I had a few days off. I'd heard that The Fat Cat had Wi-Fi so I decided to pay it a visit and have a few beers while I done some business work on my laptop. Big mistak...e. To say that the Wi-Fi signal is unpredictable is a big understatement. I had to move around the bar area to get a signal which would drop out after a few minutes. Frustrating when I'd spent two hours completing spreadsheets that I needed to send back to the office. Perhaps I should have connected a coat hanger to the USB port on my laptop via a length of cable and hung it up high on the pub sign outside.

Getting served was an experience. If you were standing next to the last person served you stood a good chance of being noticed otherwise you had to wait for the bar person to finish playing on their mobile/tablet or wait until they had finished chatting to other bar staff or customers. I also noticed that the staff were more interested in clearing/cleaning tables than they were in serving customers often rushing out from behind the bar to do this even though there were people waiting to be served.

In summery, what's the point in advertising that you have Wi-Fi when you can't provide a reliable connection. The bar staff need to be reminded of what they are being paid to do.

Other than the issues outlined above this is a great boozer that provides a great range of ales. However if you want a reliable Wi-Fi connection and better service then you're better off going up the road to The Alex where the Wi-Fi signal is reliable and stable and where the staff are more attentive.
