It's been six weeks since I updated this page, and it seems like both nothing and everything has happened.

First, I want to reach out to all of my readers who have been affected by COVID-19, whether you or someone you know has been ill, whether you're an essential worker, whether you've lost your job or whether you're feeling the mental and physical health effects of prolonged periods of quarantine.

Personally, I have been very fortunate. Based on my travel history, I was mis...diagnosed as needing to self-quarantine. So, with zero notice, and after being back at work for only nine days, I immediately (like, within minutes!) had to go into self-quarantine, alone, in my home. At that time it was so early that criteria for ending quarantine hadn't been established, and the government was telling me I'd have to stay home, alone, indefinitely. It was quite scary, but after about a week they contacted me again to say they'd made a mistake and I could go back to work.

Fortunately my employer is great (and I have a wonderful union) so my employment was secure, even after just nine days. Unfortunately, by the time I was cleared to return to work our office had closed, so I've been working from home, alone, for the past two months.

There are two sides to every coin. I'm pretty independent, so being alone in my home for months on end isn't the end of the world for me, but the seemingly-endless monotony is certainly a downer, especially since I was free to do anything, go anywhere and see anyone for the eight months prior. As a "fearless female traveler" the transition to "bored female homebody" has been unpleasant. Sometimes I wish there were other people in my house with me, but I know that I'd have to wear pants, and I couldn't leave dirty dishes in the sink, and they'd probably slow down the WiFi too.
