Egg Custard Pie

3 eggs 1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour...
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie

Bake pie shell at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 5 minutes. Set aside.
Combine melted butter or margarine, sugar, flour, milk, vanilla, and nutmeg.
Add beaten eggs, and blend well.
Pour filling into partially baked pie shell.
Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 45 to 55 minutes, or until an inserted knife comes out clean. Do not overcook.

Thanksgiving Deviled Eggs

6 Farmer John & Family eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish...
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper
Garnish: paprika
Feathers and neck use sliced red pepper and celery

1. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan; add water to depth of 3 inches. Bring to a boil; cover, remove from heat, and let stand 15 minutes.

2. Drain immediately and fill the saucepan with cold water and ice. Tap each egg firmly on the counter until cracks form all over the shell. Peel under cold running water.

3. Slice eggs in half lengthwise, and carefully remove yolks. Mash yolks with mayonnaise. Add relish, mustard, salt, and pepper; stir well. Spoon yolk mixture into egg whites. Garnish, if desired.

Halloween Sugar cookies

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 Farmer John & Family eggs ...
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

This morning while doing rounds, we were listening to classical music. The chickens really like Bach. When asked why? They responded "it's easier to pronounce."
