Seriously I had to do paintings in 90 seconds 😅😩🤨😳...
On America’s Got Talent Season 7, I had to do each painting, in 5 rounds, in 90 seconds, on live tv....
It took me months to figure out the first one. After that it took less and less time. But a constant challenge.
Through that process, I didn’t become fearless, I was learning how to overcome fear. I started to apply that mindset to any form of limit after.
There is SO much more to this story but I want to share this.
First decide that what is beyond your current limits is real. So real. You have to taste and feel it. Second, work beyond your limits. In a scary uncomfortable state.
Limits are the beginning of an uncomfortable process, preparing you, to be... limitless. -DG #dgtalk
"We... owe you success". This was an inspiring performance I did earlier this week for the New Orleans Pelicans in celebration of Rosa Parks and Black History Month. Voice of Oprah Winfrey. Due to music copyrights the full version can be viewed on my instagram.com/garibaldiarts
I was 20 when my car got repossessed... 😥
I remember the feeling of that tow truck picking up my Ford Focus that I worked so hard to earn in the first place. I had just started painting and now I was questioning everything. 😞
I had lost my job and I was about to lose my apartment. I felt defeated. 😔...
But that feeling of defeat never stopped me. I was never and still am not immune to losing or defeat but I was in control of how I dealt with it. 😤
Most people don't start because they are simply scared to be a beginner. They want to appear like they win all the time. That's not reality. Reality is learning how to lose, and still playing the game. 😏
I rarely get to drive my car like this, and today as I drove down the coast I thought about how it all began. I was a beginner. I lost. I would never take back any of those years of struggle and any pain. It taught me how to fight, and appreciate the day chose to begin. 😊 -DG #dgtalk
I'm 35 today & my greatest gift is "you"... 🎂 🎁
"You" have pushed me to be a better man, father, brother, son, partner, creator, leader, friend, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and teacher.
"You" are my family, my kids, my friends, my team, my teachers, my supporters, my community, my critics....
This has been one of the hardest and most challenging years personally and professionally. But I feel that's also what's made it the most successful. I will continue to see challenges ahead as part of the process for a successful and healthy life.
I have been blessed with 35 years today, and I look forward to creating the next with "you". -DG #dgtalk
