On Friday night, plain-clothed Cal Poly University Police assaulted a non-student in an incident occurring off-campus. They approached the victim out-of-uniform, did not identify themselves as police, accused the victim of stealing alcohol from a liquor store (which he had not done), and when the victim told them to fuck off and not touch him, three officers wrestled him to the ground and placed him in a chokehold. The officers did not identify themselves as law enforcement u...ntil they had their hands on the victim, at that point he stopped resisting. They arrested the victim without reading him his rights, and held him on $20,000 bail for the ludicrous charge of "assaulting a police officer." Keep in mind the victim did nothing but put his hands in front of his face when he demanded he not be touched, and did not know he was even dealing with law enforcement until he was on the ground with someone's arm around his neck.

People keep asking what our problem is with Cal Poly, and why we are so focused on what happens there. It's like this: No one person or group is going to fix the world's problems on their own... But if groups of people all over the world start to think and act locally to fix local problems, it can have a ripple-effect that can cause an overall improvement in the state of the world.

So, to answer the question: We are based out of San Luis Obispo County, so this is our area of... focus. It just so happens that Cal Poly has become a focal point and a hotbed of fascists and anti-fascists working against one another, and Poly's administration seems to be offering the fascist side aide, while actively trying to hinder those who oppose fascism. We are focused on Poly because that is where the action is. If that action moves elsewhere, so will our focus.
