I fell in love with The Lake District as a small child (inherited feelings from my parents who honeymooned at the Fish Hotel, Buttermere). Many childhood memories of days skimming stones, lakeside and... woodland walks. Am very lucky that my brother now lives near Carlisle and we get to visit regularly.
Yesterday was our first visit to Grasmere and yet again the seceney, sunshine, pub lunch and village location were just perfect. Grasmere is just so pretty and the walk around the lake is a lovely, low level walk for all!!
Already planning to revisit next year for my 50th birthday!!

Both myself and my disabled wife love the Lake District, it's so peaceful and relaxing, although because she is mobility scooter bound we have found plenty of walks geared around people with disabilit...ies, we have found plenty of excellent eating establishments and everyone we have met have been more than friendly, can't wait to return. The wildlife around the cottage at Crook was amazing, green woodpecker, tawny owl, deer.... The scenery was outstanding. Had great food in Squirrels pantry at Cockermouth & Sun inn at Crook. Loved Dod...d woods, where saw squirrels morning and evenings. Shed a tear when had to leave such a beautiful place! See More

Live just down the road but rarely go north of Ambleside. Stayed at High Ireby near Keswick. Stunning. Will definitely make more of an effort to visit again. Loved Keswick for the dog parade. for a flat walk with woods, falls and hidden surprises. The lovely Whinlatter with Go Ape and the stunning Honister Pass. Magical. See More

I've loved it since my parents first took me there, when l was 10. It was a good reason for moving further north!
