The Coming of the Lord

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord,[a] that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord... himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Ernest Ivey is being released from the ICU and doing much better.

He wishes to thank you all for the healing prayers!

I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.

Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.

Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I beseech thee, save my life!”

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful.

The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.

Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

Psalm 116:1-7

Dear Family,
Sad but joyful news that our retired pastor of 5 years, Pastor Jay, has gone on to his heavenly reward to be with our Savior. A Godly, gentle and loving man who stood by us and lead us through some difficult years at Good Shepherd, he will be sorely missed.

Please see the arrangements which will be this coming Saturday in Pearland's Epiphany Lutheran Church.

This from Joan:
"Thank you, he enjoyed serving your loving congregation. His funeral will be at Epiphany in Pearland Saturday the 23rd with viewing at 10 and service at 11, followed by a light lunch in the fellowship hall. The internment will be in Austin where he will be buried beside his parents."

Though we celebrate his glorious reward after a life of loving service to our Lord, we mourn his passing and pray for his grieving family.

Your sister in Christ,
Harriotte Robinson
