Miyawaki forest is a dense way of growing trees in an ecologically sound manner.
In association with Agasthya Foundation, and countless good hearted volunteers, we shall learn about how to plant a Miyawaki forest and do it on a 4200 sq.ft expanse of land near Devanahalli.
Anything that changes is a system and it can be studied using Systems Thinking. Climate, Soil, Mindsets, ... everything is changing. Why?
In this session, Suraj Kumar, an avid systems thinking proponent, an ex-IT industry professional, now an organic farmer and founder of the Grameen Revival Entrepreneurship Empowerment Network, speaks to the children of Be Me school on what Systems Thinking is all about.
Through class room sessions and hands-on group activities, children un...derstand how to analyse any problem domain, and find solutions and leverages for bringing beneficial change.
The role of food and gardening, materials reuse and innovation towards self reliance, and the many conscious choices we could make, will be explored and understood from the perspective of students, parents, teachers and innovators of society.
This workshop is specially aimed at Urban Organic Gardeners.
Through this workshop you can:
1. Understand Basics of Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) as pioneered by Padmashri Shri. Subhash Palekar....
2. Learn through Hands-on activities on how to prepare the Jivamrita (soil nutrient), Bijamrita (seed treatment) & various astras (bio-pesticides)
3. Learn through hands-on activities on how to setup the BambooPyramid vertical gardening tower technology invented by Mr.Narasimhan.
Suraj Kumar from GREEN and his father came down to the Big Banyan Farm today to show a demo of their innovation - the vegetable pyramid - which lets you grow 5X... more veggies in the same space. We will be setting up a unit in the common area to try out this awesome innovation ! Watch Suraj explain how this works.
Bamboo entrepreneurs, anyone?
A kind soul named Smita has offered her land at Devanahalli, Bangalore, of about 3000 sq.ft. to be turned into a Miyawaki Forest.
The kind folks from Agasthya Foundation and JungleScapes have offered their training and material support (seeds, rhizome, saplings, etc.,) of native trees and herbs and grasses to create this forest. It will be created according to the Miyawaki forest creation method. It will be a good opportunity to learn some basic ecological principles of crea...ting urban forest and wood land spaces.
Now, we only need HANDS, MINDS and HEARTS to come together!
We don't want volunteers. We NEED volunteers! Please join this WhatsApp group to discuss / know when the date is finalized and to get into action.
Needless to say, it is entirely "GIFT ECONOMY" - no charges whatsoever, but there may be some donations we may have to pool in to get saplings, etc., Now is the monsoon and now is the best time to do this!
It all depends on maximum COMMITTED volunteer team to achieve maximum tree plantation in this space. So please share this post widely and help green bangalore!
Yesterday, on World Environment Day (Jun 5th), we were present at RMZ Ecoworld to reach out to people. We explained why we must realize our relationship with food, the farmer and the natural world. We also showcased the various products of the rural entrepreneurs of our network, such as cold pressed oils, jaggery, food products and the #bambooPyramid
