How to Recognize a Real Freemason
King SolomonMany people believe that the way to recognize a real Freemason is through the exchange of secret words and handshakes, but these are merely symbolic allus...ions to something far more profound. So, how can you recognize a real Freemason?
The real Freemason extends friendship towards all, because he views all human beings as part of one great brotherhood under God. He does not judge others, because he knows that only God has the wisdom to judge the hearts of men. He is honest and fair in all his dealings. He defends the weak from abuse by the powerful. He discovers the inner beauty within all people and things. He lives in the present moment, neither the past nor the future have claim over his thoughts and mind. He follows the dictates of his own conscience, and is not subject to external influences. He is guided by both Faith and Reason. He is not a slave to his passions, but is passionate about living a life with purpose. He seeks to heal the divisions that separate men, and to sow the seeds of tolerance in their hearts. He helps to raise others up to recognize their true potential. His heart and mind are open to understanding. He has attained both virtue and probity through quiet reflection.
Do you know any real Freemasons?

I have sat at Grand Communication, and enjoyed it. I have visited the Grand Lodge at other times, as well as the museum. A member or not, it is good to visit, for a great education in Texas, and U.S. ...history, and that of Freemasonry as a whole. See More

I have been a Mason for a number of years and have had the pleasure of attending a Grand Lodge event every year. I always find something I have never noticed before and have always made new friends. T...he building itself is beautiful, but its the Masons within that make it remarkable. See More

Stopped by to have Bruce try and dig up some history on my Grandfather. He and the other staff are extremely helpful! The building is in the process of getting A/C installed, but is still beautiful to... see inside. The A/C will allow more people to enjoy the building. See More

Not always open, I came from Washington state, I am a Texas Mason but have never been able to visit. Today I had time. But it was closed, (due to remodel) I told the Sec. Over the speaker that I lik...ely would never be back as I do not get to Texas very often she said I'm sorry. I understand but I was disappointed Side note the architecture on the outside was very well done See More

This structure has been the home of Texas Masons since 1948.
The Art Deco design reminds one of an earlier time.
The office can schedule a tour if you call them.

Texas Masonic Charities Foundation Creates "First Responder Fund"

Brethren, it's been a long and grueling couple of days, but we've made it.

A long and through board meeting, hours of work with lawyers and accountants, web dudes and brothers from across the state and even some excellent advice from neighbor state Masonic Charities Foundations.....

but we've got it done and it meets all IRS requirements and is a very versatile vehicle for us to support first responders killed or injured in the line of duty and their families.

A full explanation of the fund is here:

and donations can be made here:

It may take 24 hours or so for the link on the explanation page to propagate, but the donate link works now.

Thanks to each of you for your offers of assistance and for your patience. This has been a very complex and sometimes trying project but everyone involved felt like it was worth it.

-Don Comedy
