Senator Chuck Grassley discusses completing his annual #99CountyMeetings for 2018 — the 38th year he's held an hour-long Q&A in each of Iowa's 99 counties since first being elected to serve in the U.S. Senate in 1981. Senator Grassley will continue meeting with Iowans for the rest of the year as the Senate voting schedule allows.

“The Iowa Department of Public Health estimates 200 Iowans last year lost their lives from opioid misuse. The CDC says one in seven high school students reported misusing prescription opioids last year. Right now, it’s hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel. America needs to bolster our efforts to turn the tide,” Senator Grassley wrote in his weekly Q&A.

“From my leadership positions on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control, I have steered through a dozen more bipartisan legislative measures to add resources and strategies to help local communities respond to the crisis with data-tracking and transparency tools and improvements to treatment services.”

Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, discusses Judge Kavanaugh’s qualifications and his upcoming confirmation vote in the U.S. Senate, KTIV News in Sioux City reported last night.

“The hearing last week showed the absolute competence of Judge Kavanaugh considering his 12 years on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. More importantly, how he handled himself on some very tough questioning from people who are going to vote against him. He showed that he’s a judge’s judge,” Senator Grassley said.
