The Domino Effect of Sudanese-American Relations
Abstract:
Sudanese-American relations date back to President Theodore Roosevelt to Africa in 1909. Although these relations have lingered for very long, they have been stained with strained relations. Sudan is still on the list of countries which harbor terrorism. There are many predictions with regards to these relations, one of which includes the lifting of sanctions which is scheduled to take place soon. Sudanese-U.S. relations are expected to improve in the near future.

Abstract:
In this paper, Dr. Adil introduces the presumption that U.S. foreign policy toward China was to be an “Open Door Policy,” when it appeared that this was not the case following a number of policies made by the U.S. He further explores the history of U.S. - China relations and how China’s rise created a sense of unease for the U.S. Dr. Adil further provides an overview of the progression of relations between both countries. In addition, he explains the changes in Chinese perceptions toward the U.S,. both politically and socially. Dr. Adil concludes by stating that the collapse of the Soviet Union created a fertile ground for U.S. – Chinese relations but that did not prove to be the case when the U.S. allied with other countries.

Abstract:
The paper discusses the war in South Sudan and the factors which led to it. Prof. Mahmoud commenced by stating that interest in the newborn country began at the beginning of the twentieth century. Prof. Mahmoud contends that the war in South Sudan was foreseen due to a number of factors which revolve around peace and war. He further explores the definition of ‘war’ and its ramifications. Furthermore, Prof. Mahmoud explores the struggles that neighboring countries en...counter as a result of war in South Sudan. The U.S., according to Prof. Mahmoud, made a mistake by supporting the independence of South Sudan and is now realizing Sudan’s essential role in de-escalating the conflict in South Sudan. Prof. Mahmoud concludes by providing a number of recommendations which are meant to bring about stability in the country. He also provides sources for further research on the matter.

Abstract
The paper analyses the dynamics of the 2013 conflict in South Sudan, reflecting on the root causes of the conflict within the ranks of SPLM/A the ruling body/actor in South Sudan. The paper explores how the conflict started as a political crisis at the political level among the power elite in Juba late 2013, but violence spilled all over the country, more or less along ethnic lines. The President did not spare time to request foreign inte...rvention from Uganda, making things even worse for any possible de-escalation between and among different ethnic groups. The paper casts light on the level of humanitarian emergency that arose due to security constraints on food supplies, as a result of difficulties aid agencies face. Finally the paper assesses peacemaking efforts initiated by different actors notably the African Union.
