"Great Aunt burst out of the gate with [their] debut single in May - and damn is it great! It's spare and simple but it just demands you listen to it. I can't wait to see what they produce in 2018." - Katie Purvis, Miss Chatelaine, JoyFM
"This duo are destined for big things I tell ya. Such a brilliant sound. They are absolutely killing it this year." - Nathan Seeckts, Last Night in Town, PulseFM
Great Aunt is an Americana duo from Melbourne, Australia, rambling a musical line between the plaintive and the joyous. Their music is raw and austere; full of stomping feet and clapping hands, chants and harmonies, whispered words and soulful lament. Set somewhere between a gospel church in Louisiana and a dimly-lit speakeasy in Melbourne, listeners will hear tales of joy and grief, whiskey and wine, gratitude and purpose-seeking.
The duo spent much of 2017 touring the east coast of Australia, including festival performances at Tamworth Country Music Festival, Nimbin Roots, Kinglake Bluegrass, and Maroondah festivals, as well as repeat performances and showcases in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
Their debut single, 'Tell Me When It's Over' received high-rotation airplay on various community radio stations Australia-wide, and was nominated in 3 'Best Songs of 2017' (Last Night in Town, Miss Chatelaine and Almost Famous Radio). A video clip for 'Tell Me When It's Over' was premiered on The Bluegrass Situation (USA), and featured on Foxtel's Country Music Channel (Sunday Night Alt).
Since the release of his debut EP "Settle Like Stones" in 2016, Country singer-songwriter Gareth Leach has been cutting his teeth in the Australian Country Music scene playing all over the country at Festivals such as Tamworth and has performed alongside artists such as Bob Evans, Christie Lamb, Deep Creek Road, Gretta Ziller and Andrew Swift.
With a new record on the way due for release early 2018, he will be performing some new tracks live for the first time with his band at what promises to be a jam packed evening of music.
Big ❤️ to The Bluegrass Situation for sharing our music.
Our next show is this Sunday at The Taproom - Shedshaker Brewing in Castlemaine. Who's up for a road trip to awesome beers!?
