Some of our Springfield area bankers had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day with our Partner in Education, McgregorElementary! We're not sure who had more fun...the kids or our Associates!
There are only a couple of weeks left to stop by a participating McDonalds location and purchase a Heart benefitting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks! RMHC provides a home away from home for families with children from pre-birth to age 21 who are receiving treatment at a Springfield medical facility.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, we want to share information about Online Dating Scams from the American Bankers Association.
Online Dating Scams typically involve a fraudster creating a fake profile, establishing a romantic relationship and eventually monetizing the relationship by requesting money. There are often sudden emergencies, such as hospital bills and travel, that will initiate their request for money and prevent them from visiting as planned.
In 2016, more than $220 million was lost due to this scam, and reports to the FBI tripled in five years. If you or someone you know is potentially involved in a dating scam, contact your bank as a resource. We’re here to help.
Did you know that heart disease and strokes cause 1 in 3 deaths among women every year? That means that approximately one woman is killed every 80 seconds. We participated in Go Red For Women again this year to help raise awareness for this very important issue. If you stopped by any of our locations today you may have seen our associates donning their red in support of #GoRedWearRed.

Each year, Great Southern Bank honors one outstanding associate who demonstrates excellence in volunteer service to their community. On January 25th, we awarded the 2018 Bill and Ann Turner Distinguished Community Service Award to Lynn Hinkle, the Retail Banking Regional Manager for the Kansas City Metro area. Lynn’s love of her community and her dedication to offering her time and expertise to make it the best place to live demonstrates the spirit of our Community Matters pr...ogram and the integrity of this award.
Our Chairman, Bill Turner, along with our President and CEO, Joe Turner, presented Lynn with the award at the ceremony. On Lynn’s behalf, Great Southern Bank will make a donation to the charity of her choice. Our lives are so digital and mobile that text messages from official entities don't seem out of the ordinary.
However, you should be very cautious and skeptical of attempts to collect your personal information. Important information from the government will be communicated to you by an official letter - not a text message.
You should never share any personal information, especially your social security number, with an unknown individual or entity....
Most mobile devices allow you to block a phone number from contacting you. If you receive a fraudulent call or text message, block that number so it can't contact you again.
Our associates received an exciting announcement today:
