Group rules from the admins

1
Content must involve only wildlife found within Manitoba, Canada that is part of the Animal Kingdom
-mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, (vertebrates and invertebrates) -posts regarding wildlife habitat and conservation issues are accepted and encouraged -limit of 3 posts per day, per member
2
PLEASE label all posts with SPECIES (if known), DATE, and general LOCATION (for the safety of the animal, never provide exact location especially when sensitive species, nests, or dens are involved)
This information serves to help those who use the search tool to research a given species in a selected location. This also informs on which habitats we can associate with various wildlife. Location and date also helps to differentiate between similar species.
3
Please keep comments and posts equally respectful to people and wildlife.
This group is not about hunting, trapping, fishing, nor lethal means of controlling wildlife.
4
Photos/video of harassed, baited, or captive animals will not be accepted and no photos/video of animals being handled without explaining why the disturbance was necessary.
Any posts of wildlife being fed or tamed by humans (including birds) will be removed as this often places animals at risk.
5
For ID queries of tracks (or other wildlife evidence), in addition to date/location, please include measurements or an item in the photo that can be used as a size reference (ruler, coin, etc.).
Photos from multiple angles and as much info as possible will increase the likelihood of reaching a correct ID. Remember that many species are remarkably similar in their appearance or in the evidence they leave behind.
6
No Advertising
No advertising, buying or selling unless it is for conservation purposes. No self-promotion.
7
Please do not post internet/Facebook memes, etc.
Most of us have already seen them elsewhere on social media. Please try to avoid using flashy gifs and stickers, etc. when commenting on posts, as they distract from the main content of the group.
8
Please keep ethical & educational standards high.
We reserve the right to remove any content or misinformation that compromises the ethical and educational standards of this group.
9
No photos & videos of active bird nests accepted.
We will accept nest photos/videos from remote cameras and photos from legitimate research projects. We will also accept photos of nest boxes ( houses for wrens, bluebirds, purple martins, etc.).
