Group rules from the admins

1
1. Be kind and courteous to all members and mods.
Be kind and courteous to all. We don’t allow hate speech, bullying, degrading comments, shaming of others, or embarrassing others. We require being welcoming, kind, respectful, civil, and caring to all, including moderators and admin of MAS
2
2. No promotions or spam
What does this mean? We don’t allow posts or comments that are self-promoting, irrelevant, or spam. Give more than you take. Be genuine and authentic in your posts and comments. We won’t approve posts asking for recommendations for which dishes to buy. We will delete comments that are spammy such as simply writing “next” or "me" “interested
3
3. Respect everyone’s privacy
Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Asking for help can be difficult for some and if their privacy is breached it will erode the community. What is shared in the group needs to stay in the group.
4
4. Breach either Mutual Aid guidelines or Facebook
No asking for over the counter/prescription medicine, animals, money, giving medical advice (unless you identify yourself as a medical professional first), buying/selling, trading, crowdsourcing, third party requests, using someone else’s account to comment/make a post, no Skip/Door Dash requests, no fast food request, and no posts for ‘cravings’. We will decline a post where someone indicates they are using their partners FB account.
5
5. No unnecessary comments and back story/context
Comments that do not offer direct help are not allowed. If you want to offer advice, ask the poster first if they are open to it before giving the advice. When making a post asking for help you do not need to give the back story, even though you may feel like you have to or want to. The request for help gets lost in the story and the request becomes unclear. Stick with making your request and include your general location and if you can pick up or will need delivery.
6
6. Your general location is needed
Posts will only be accepted with your general location. This is for posts asking for help where delivery is needed and for posts giving help that are pick up only. For safety reasons, do not post your exact address. If you will pick up the items, please include that and indicate you do not need delivery.
7
7. We help residents of Winnipeg and surrounding
While we would love to to help everyone in Manitoba, our focus is helping those in our community of Winnipeg and surrounding areas is our primary concern. If you live in a surrounding area of Winnipeg, you will need to travel into Winnipeg to pick up or drop off items. As well, your FB profile must show you living in Winnipeg or a surrounding area.
8
8. Mutual Aid is not a game.
Posts offering assistance that require someone in need to participate in a game or a draw will not be approved. Our goal is to get the items (especially food) to those in need in the fastest way possible. We understand that sometimes donors want to gift to an individual or family in a certain circumstance and those posts will be allowed if they are not requiring the commenter to give proof or act in a performative manner.
9
9. Posts after 10 PM are not approved
What does this mean? We do not approve posts after 10 PM at night for safety reasons. We begin approving posts in the morning between 6 AM and 7 AM We do this for safety reasons. What could this look like? If you submit a post asking for help with an evening meal at 10:30 PM it will not be approved until the morning. If you submit a post at 10 PM where you want to give away your supper leftovers it will not get approved until the morning.
