Group rules from the admins

1
Be Nice. No Politics, Religion, or Hate Speech.
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Harassment, bullying, and hate speech will not be tolerated. Leave your racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc. at the door. Kill shaming (including sad/angry reacts) members who post dead spiders also qualifies as bullying. Politely instructing others on why they should relocate spiders and how to do so is fine.
2
Geographic Location Always Required!!!
Include region (state, province, etc.) and country in all posts. States and provinces must be written out, not abbreviated. USA and UK are acceptable for country. This isn't necessary for memes and that sort of thing, but you do need to include the native range of any exotic pets you want to share with us. State the species if you do not need an ID or it is a captive animal. Geotags are not accepted.
3
Credit Photographers!!!
Photos not taken by you must be credited, including by friends/family, with at least first name and initial of last name (e.g. Tam M.), or initial of first name and last name (e.g. T. MacKenzie) for them. Photos from the internet, including in links from another group/page, must have the full proper name of the original photographer - if you can't find it, we will not allow it.
4
No Killing/“Nope”, Fake ID, or Bad Joke Comments
Spider positivity only. No “Nope!” comments; they’re counterproductive to our mission. We understand arachnophobia and will ID dead spiders but don't need details of how it died. No "burn it" jokes or memes. No fake IDS or fake "joke" information. No control or extermination advice/discussion. This includes "natural" products like essential oils.
5
No Bite/Medical Advice Posts or Comments
No spider bite posts/comments or photos, or giving medical advice. If you believe you have been bitten and are concerned, or have concerning symptoms, please seek medical attention.
6
Read Previous Comments and Avoid Redundancy
Repeat ID and information bumps a post up and displaces those still needing ID/information, and creates unnecessary notifications. Reply to the original ID if you think it is incorrect, or for questions/concerns about it.
7
No Homework Help!
We do not provide assistance with homework, school projects, or college/university assignments.
8
Please limit posts to 5 per day
This helps to prevent other posts from getting lost. Posts with multiple species will be treated as separate for counts.
9
Do not use AI apps to ID spiders posted in group
Identification apps and Google are unreliable for spiders and do not account for location when submitting photos taken elsewhere in the world. We have many great, human experts who are more than happy to provide accurate identifications.
10
No promotion or sales posts or comments.
Self-promotion (other sites), products, or similar are not permitted. While we allow artistic endeavours and shared images/information, we do not allow anything leading to product sales. Don't ask or offer info about promotions/sales.
