Hi everyone
Just need a little help please... ?
My Ubuntu 12.04 has run out of inodes on /

I've run this command:

...

sudo find . -xdev -type f | cut -d "/" -f 2 | sort | uniq -c | sort -n

but it fails with a

sort: write failed: /tmp/sortIPYthw: No space left on device

Yes, I know that....

df shows me:

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda5 21905964 20300824 492360 98% /
udev 1533984 4 1533980 1% /dev

df -i shows me:

/dev/sdc1 122101760 205681 121896079 1% /media/DATA

I've done

du -hs *

and shows me all the folders ie:

7.6G home
etc etc

but moving into those folders and trying to see what's using so much space has not been productive.

I've been to stackoverflow, askubuntu etc, but still can't run any command that will tell me what I need to remove to get / some free space.

I thought this might help:

http://www.kossboss.com/freeinodes

especially with regard to sending off the file list via ssh to another ubuntu box, but I'm not sure of where to go with that.....

Thanks if anyone can help.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Thanks for approving my request
Although I am very disappointed that Ubuntu Australian Team is not as active as I thought it might be, I am here to offer my full help and support

...

I am one of those contributors to Ubuntu Communities. I have been heavily involved with many projects and/or communities.

This is my Wiki Page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/amjjawad

I have many projects in hands but the 3 major ones are:

Ubuntu GNOME
Startubuntu
and Tori鳥OS

In my Wiki Page, you can find everything about my +4 years involved with many projects and communities

Again, I am here to offer my help and support. I am VERY interested to take all what I have learned and have in hand into real life. I have done a lot online and I am a bit bored ... I need some real life activities and spread the word of FLOSS and Ubuntu

Sorry for the long post ...

Hi Folks,

I am a novice in regards to the backend of computers! I have encountered a problem, I updated 12.04.4 (LTS) and the unity interface has dis-appeared. Once the up-date was finished, I was asked to restart the system and I did.
When the machine booted up, the unity interface flickers and goes straight to a black screen with the following:
Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS Kundur (Computer name) tty1...
Kundur login:…………..
I type my pw and nothing comes out of it
I desperately want to get this fixed as I do not want to loose the data in the computer. Can anyone help please?

PS: I am also struggling to create a thread within the ubuntu community forum - also need some help there
I live in Sydney and willing to have a yarn.
