Group rules from the admins

1
WE KEEP US SAFE.
No cops/ law enforcement/ defense contractors or active-duty military. This is a purely grassroots community effort, and we DO NOT BELIEVE THE POLICE KEEP US SAFE.
2
Read up on what mutual aid means.
It is not the same as charity, philanthropy, or state social services. From Big Door Brigade: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/y3mkjv/what-is-mutual-aid-and-how-can-it-help-with-coronavirus
3
Be aware of the dynamics and privilege you bring.
Our goal is to resist existing power structures through direct aid to each other, not to replicate those structures or to accommodate white saviorism. Avoid dominating conversations, and uplift posts and projects that already exist.
4
Please stay on topic.
This group is focused on mutual aid efforts in DC for essential or basic survival needs. We trust that folks have their own ideas of what they need to survive.
5
Funding requests made only in weekly post.
If your request can only be met with monetary aid then your post will be removed and you will be directed to the Friday cash post. Our Community may not be able to address urgent cash needs.
6
No electoral campaigning or endorsements
In order to keep the focus on mutual aid, electoral campaigning is not permitted on this page.
7
Please refrain from posting traumatic content.
If you think the thing you are posting is essential yet might be triggering, please include a content warning and, if possible, include the image/video portion in the comments rather than as a main post.
8
Please be kind and courteous.
This isn't a space for hate speech, bullying, harassment or biases against any group of people. We also honor that bullying by fragile white people won't be used to silence Black + marginalized folx.
9
We may remove posts that violate these rules.
Please understand that post removal is not a disciplinary mechanism. It’s just the way that we keep the community focused on mutual aid, working together to meet each other’s basic needs.
