Last week's Habitat on the Hill was a great experience for our Mississippi team. Ginger and Johnny Pettit from Pontotoc Habitat for Humanity came for the first time and were given a very warm welcome by Senator Roger Wicker who was born and raised in Pontotoc. Also pictured with the Senator are Chris Monforton, CEO of HFH MS Gulf Coast and Melissa Reed Graves, Director of Mississippi's Habitat State Support Organization.
If you haven't heard of the RV Care-A-Vanners, you need to! There are thousands of the RV-ers who travel the country building for Habitat affiliates. They were instrumental in Katrina recovery because they brought their own "houses" to a region that lost all of theirs. And they have so much fun!!!
Mississippi has 7 Habitat affiliates working to serve housing needs in the Mississippi Delta. But home ownership can't happen without jobs. Neither can health. In the midst of the Delta's fertile land is food scarcity.
