I have listened to 1,584 showcasing SXSW bands. My ears, they hurt. But! I have Six songs for you. Listen up!
1- Annie Hart- Hard to Be Still
Shoegaze meets Synthwave -- Annie rocks it out with a drony synth laden track, deep in the heart of new order and then some. Listen.
2. Hatchie - Try
Imagine a bright summer day when you're walking to a shimmery free Lush Concert. That's Hatchie.
3- HAEX - DAGGERS
Throbbing industrial bass lines just surprised me on a SXSW playlist. I assume they're gonna play Elysium. Let's hope we get more of this.
4. Mariah Manser - Second Skin.
Manser is chasing Lana Del Ray in the most amazing way, with a bit of Chvrches self-vocal sampling thrown in
5. The Magnettes - Killers in a Ghost Town
I saw the Magnettes about three years ago at SXSW. This song channels Haim and perfect pop with a great melody. Check them out.
6. STRVNGERS - Dressed to Kill
This what'd play at Turbo Drive to keep you going. Hard synthwave with effected vocals from the 80s. Great stuff. Hard electronics meets witch house. If you close your eyes, you might hear some old school MJ meeting up with front 242 in a dark alley.
I'm also going to throw in a mention here for Kanga who is kicking ass at music this year, and "KIDS N CATS" who is killing it with a great retro sound.
2018 is looking good for the 10th most anticipated album of the new year.
