Hello from Paris, TX.
Everyone, it is with sadness that I need to let you know that I have had to drop out of the Spirit, Soul & Songs Tour, I was supposed to start tomorrow with Kimie, Mike Love and Tubby Love, as well as cancel upcoming appearances at Cali Roots and Reggae In The Hills.
As many of you know, I also had to recently cancel shows with the Easy Star All-Stars. I have been battling... some issues with my voice that has been restricting my ability to sing the way I always have. I was finally able to get in to see a specialist this week after having a particularly troublesome show last week. They were able to diagnose the issue and have prescribed vocal rest and ongoing voice therapy sessions twice per week for the next few months to get me back on track. The good news is they don’t view this as a very serious problem and I should be back to normal soon, but they did strongly recommend I not do these planned shows as I could have set my recovery back even further or done much worse damage in trying to tough it out.
I am so bummed to be missing this tour, as it features three other musicians I love and was looking forward to playing with and seeing each night. I have actually been writing songs with Tubby Love and will be collaborating with him soon. The Spirit, Soul & Song Tour will be continuing on without me, starting Friday at the Roxy in LA. I expect to make a full recovery and I will still be doing a couple of shows later towards the end of June, after 6 weeks of therapy and rest. I hope to reschedule and get back to the markets I am missing this time around.
