I'll be at the NEC on Saturday helping Esme Fletcher Photography out but she could do with an assistant for Sunday.
Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated. No experience required, you just need to be able to smile, say hello and hand out flyers.
Please get in touch with Esme is you can help her out....
If you're coming to the show on Saturday, pop by and say hello.
This hasn't been an easy decision and to be honest although it's been on the cards for nearly 12 months now, I've held off in the hopes that I would find a way to carry on.
But now it's official. Until further notice HCC is closed.
I'm not taking on any more orders. It may be that I'll re-open at a later date, I'm not ruling out a return, but right now, closing is the right decision....
The reality of running a cake business is it's not all glitz and glamour. At times it can be the dream job and very enjoyable but the reality is a lot of late nights, a lot of stress, cake scraps for almost every meal, dehydration, exhaustion, humidity making things difficult, some near disasters, lots of anxiety and panic and praying every moment that nothing goes wrong before you get it safely delivered or handed over.
It was having an impact on my health and looking at my income, after materials and other outgoings, I was hardly making any money. I figured I would have to work at least 5 times harder to bring in a good living and I'd probably die doing it. And once that realisation hit, I fell out of love with doing it. Health has to be priority #1 right?
This business was built on a love for my craft, wanting to make people happy and I put my all into each cake. I honestly believe if you don't enjoy making the cakes, they won't turn out well (just my belief) and making cakes no longer fills me with love and joy.
I know a lot of people are disappointed. So many people have told me it's such a shame I'm closing but it's a decision I have got to make.
What would be more of a disappointment and a shame would be for me to carry on making cakes and not loving it and for that to come across in my work.
I have so many other amazing local caker friends who I highly recommend. If you wanted to book me but can't, I would be very happy to refer you to someone else.
And YES I will still be going to Cake International because whilst I may have fallen out of love with making cakes, I still absolutely LOVE all my cake peeps.
I have many new adventures ahead of me, don't be sad. I'm moving onto some bigger and better things with my other venture.
Thankyou to everyone who has supported me over the last 3 years
A gorgeous dark chocolate and fruit semi-naked cake. Perfect for autumn/winter weddings.
This one was set up at Coombe Abbey Hotel.
These ones are always my favourite. I love dark chocolate and the contrast of the bright berries. This got a lot of attention as I was setting it up and the guests kept commenting that all they could smell was chocolate. I take it as a compliment.

Any Oxford bride-to-be's, if you still haven't found the perfect dress or are looking for something a bit different for your wedding, I highly recommend you attend this event on Sunday.
If you have had a cake from me this year and you think I did a great job, why not leave me a review and let me know?
I've really enjoyed the cakes I've made this year and I feel really happy with the transition I've decided to make into only offering semi-naked wedding cakes.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a special dress and top notch customer service. If you're able to make it, you wont be disappointed.
For those of you who couldnt make it, here is a little tour around the competiton.
Cake International has become a really special place for me, so many amazing pieces and amazing people. I have met new people, made some lovely friends, had lots of hugs. If you are a cake enthusiast or even just starting out in your cake career, you must make it your goal to enter and to experience it.
I look forward to meeting you at a future event but for now, here is a tour around this years competition. Thanks to Lara from Tasty Cakes for doing this.
