For those of you who are local who missed the news, and for those of you who don’t live there anymore I recorded the news segment on the flooding. I am sorry the first part is cut off, I couldn’t get to the TV in time when I realized that they were doing a story on it.

I remember! I remember going into our local store barefoot as a child and coal dust would be all over my feet! Those were the awesome days!

I am seeing all of the devastating flood photos on Facebook. My heart is so broken that I can not find my words. If you live in the area and would like to share your photos here, please post them in the comments or private message me.

Also, I know that clean up will be costly. If any officials in Harlan that hold any type of fundraisers and would like it posted here send the information to me when it becomes available. OFFICIAL only (I will check trust me... I will not advertise fraud)

Praying for my hometown!!!!!

PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!

Good evening. It's turned into a very scary evening here in Harlan County. Moments ago, I declared a state of emergency due to the widespread flooding we are ex...periencing. Creeks and streams started overflowing at around 4:00p.m. As of now, rivers throughout our county are starting to overflow their banks as well.

My advice to you is if you do not have to be out, don't get out. If you live near a river, keep a watchful eye out. Don't risk your life by staying in your home if you are about to be flooded. Seek higher ground immediately if you are in a flood prone area. The rivers are going to continue to rise through the night. The Courthouse is open right now if you need a place to go and we are working on an additional shelter as well.

Call 911 if you cannot get out of your home and are flooding. County, city, and state crews are working hard to preserve life and property as is our dedicated emergency personnel. Keep them all in your prayers.

Elcomb just now. Please be careful if you are out and about.

I just wanted to take a moment and honor the life of Tony Brewer. I didn’t know him personally, but I have many mutual friends and I have been following his story for a while. He has touched many souls, including the ones he never met such as me.

His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I will carry his strong will to live and wise words with me forever.
