The so called National Unity Government (NUG), Created a catastrophe. Last night the central tent of the Uprising for Change protestors was barbarically attacked by the brutal, anti-people and despotic government.

Contrary to all accepted democratic norms and principles, the ruling regime committed brutal killing of the innocent citizens of the country. As a result of this brutal terroristic action 2 of the protestors were martyred, 27 were wounded and 11 of them were taken by the regime’s forces.

The brutality of the regime’s forces against the Uprising for Change protestors was such that one of the protestors was martyred under the chains of a Hamwo tank run over him by the regime personal.

The Uprising for Change as a civil and peaceful movement has begun a peaceful civil protest against the incompetency of the government to provide security and welfare of citizens and requested the answer for its demands. All activities of the Uprising was and is under the banner of law and based on the needs of a modern and democratic society and insist on the accomplishment of its legitimate national demands. Unfortunately for the second time the Uprising for Change has come under the brutal attack of the government on 29th of Jawza 1396 (20th May 2017).

The Uprising for Change consider this unlawful and undemocratic move of the illegitimate government against its peaceful, just and rightful demands; as an illegal, undemocratic and crime against humanity and continue to stand firmly by its rightful demands.

We want the urgent release of those young protestors detained by security forces.

We urge the noble people of Afghanistan, international bodies and those governments who are supporting state building and democratization processes in Afghanistan that they should consider timely handling of the insurance of the safety of democracy and preserving human rights and help and support our people in avoiding the realization of despotism and autocracy in Afghanistan.

Night raid of a government lacking legitimacy on protesting citizens’ tent is an deniable proof that Afghanistan is on the verge of falling into despotism, oppression and repression. Failure under these conditions is not acceptable to anybody.

We declare that we will not surrender to tyranny and repression and continue to struggle peacefully and lawfully for litigation and justice to our shed bloods and to achieve our rightful and just demands.
