Bulk Item Collection Service
The Town of Harrisburg offers bulk item pick-up on Wednesday of each week, or as soon as possible thereafter depending on current workloads. All bulk item pick-ups must be scheduled through the Customer Service Department at 704-455-5614 at least one day in advance. Bulk item pick-up does not include yard waste collection - leaves, grass, limbs and brush.

This past spring, I took a walk with my neighbor and learned Harrisburg is the most highly educated and wealthiest towns in the state. This week I have seen sev...eral tweets/snapchat messages from children in our community. These items, which will live on the internet forever were derogatory, hate filled, and just ignorant. The use of the "N-word" is not ok by anyone. Period. For a community of highly educated adults, I am appalled by what our children are doing online and when they think no one is looking. I ask that all parents check on your children and their activities. We all moved to this community for the same goal, to raise responsible, well rounded, and compassionate children to be productive members of society. If you have a child named Amber or Katelyn, I ask that you have a frank conversation with them about treating others with dignity and respect. Our community needs to have discussions around diversity and inclusion, race, and other topics that make us uncomfortable. These conversations will help us all grow and create tolerance and understanding which is very much needed during these difficult times. See More

Prevent Frozen Pipes. -Keep garage doors closed if there are water supply lines in the garage. -Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children. -When the weather is very cold outside, let the cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe - even at a trickle - helps prevent pipes from freezing. -Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night. By temporarily suspending the use of lower nighttime temperatures, you may incur a higher heating bill, but you can prevent a much more costly repair job if pipes freeze and burst. -If you will be going away during cold weather, leave the heat on in your home, set to a temperature no lower than 55° F. #harrisburgnc'

We're home! A very tired crew of 4 Harrisburg Firefighters returned this evening after nearly 5 full days fighting the "Party Rock" fire near Lake Lure. They we...re split into 2 crews working 12 hour shifts which put crews from Harrisburg in the fight 24 hours a day. We are very proud of the guys as they upheld the highest standard of professionalism and a duty to act and serve in true Harrisburg fashion. Town of Harrisburg, NC
