Check out KQED's inspiring video coverage of youth-led field efforts in this November election!
Our monthly Hump Day Happy Hour with Harvey is tonight and we are proud to be co-hosting a fundraiser for our past-president and endorsed City College Board candidate Tom Temprano at Tank18 in SOMA. The Body Politic at Night: A #tt4cc Fundraiser is a celebration of today, of this city’s unique fusion of queer nightlife, politics and activism. Join us from 6-10pm for an evening of food, wine and a film installation by artist/activist Leo Herrera while raising funds to make sure we elect Tom Temprano on November 8th. #tt4cc
Tomorrow night, join supporters of Hillary Clinton for a special LGBT phone bank and help make calls to voters in critical battleground states! 5-9pm at the Hillary for America - San Francisco Headquarters at 1001 Van Ness.
Transgender civil rights leader and San Francisco Health Commission member Cecilia Chung is the latest high-profile LGBT leader to endorse Jane Kim: "Chung said that Kim 'continues to be our number one champion for affordable housing, safe schools, and criminal justice reform.'"
We couldn't agree more! #ImWithJane
Don't be misled - the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club only supports one candidate for CA District 11 State Senate, and her name is Jane Kim! Join us in voting No on Prop 60! Thank you, Jane.
Tomorrow! Turn out for our endorsed candidate for District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston and Tom Temprano for City College Board. Rain or shine, help us get the word out to D5 voters! Note the change in meet-up location to 500 Laguna Street -- Dean's campaign office. #GOTV #DeanforD5 #tt4cc
Current and past Harvey Milk Club presidents joined LGBT leaders in a letter to the editor of the Bay Area Reporter expressing disappointment in their 2nd place endorsement of Kimberly Alvarenga for District 11 Supervisor, the only LGBT candidate running for Supervisor. Kimberly is #1 in our book, and we are fighting hard to get her elected. Read the letter here: http://ebar.com/openforum/letters/letter.php…
Join us to support Kim Alvarenga and take in some comedy!
Thanks to everyone who came out this morning for our LGBT Mobilization for Jane Kim for State Senate in the heart of the Castro! Special thanks to Philz Coffee - Castro for donating coffee to fuel us in getting out the vote and to LGBT leaders Mia Satya, Bevan Dufty, Tom Temprano, Rafael Mandelman, and Cleve Jones for joining us. #GOTV #CastroforJane #runjanerun
San Francisco needs leaders like Kimberly Alvarenga in District 11 to continue fighting for the resources our neighborhoods deserve. She is the only LGBTQ candidate running for the Board of Supervisors, it is critical that we show our support and get out the vote for her. Please join the Harvey Milk Club for (free!) lunch from the delicious Roxie's Deli followed by a mobilization this Sunday @ 11:30. Please register below.
- LGBT Harvey Milk Democratic Club - As you probably know, here in Ind...iana we have had major problems with our governor, Mike Pence. Fortunately, due to hard work and good luck, Pence will no longer be our governor. BUT - if we all don't get out and vote, Pence could become our next Vice-President. So now we are taking this plea to the nation - please get out and VOTE - so you don't get stuck with Mike Pence like we had been here in Indiana. He signed our RFRA bill which allows Hoosier businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ customers. He refused to admit on national television that the bill was discriminatory. He also signed the worst anti-abortion bill in the country. The man is a bigot and a liar and a puppet of right-wing evangelical Christians. So I'm begging you to make sure that Pence does not get near the White House. Please VOTE and make sure that Indiana's nightmare does not become the nation's nightmare. Please share this message. Thank you!
- OMG For years I have used the HM LGBT endorsements as a guide for my... voting. But I can not believe that you endorse Jane KIm. As a resident in the Tenderloin, I can tell you exactly what Jane Kin has done for her district. NOTHING! I am almost against Jane KIm as I am Donald Trump. And I have sold and boycotted all my Apple products simply because the head of apple, Timothy Cook (who shares my name by the way, and is also gay) is a Republican and supports Trump! And as a Kim supporter I can no longer take you seriously.
- Liberal moralism toward poor people is a real problem, but the soda ...tax isn't that--don't buy into the multi-million dollar fake populist PR from the soda industry. Poor people and communities of color are playing a key role in this movement to save their own lives. Soda and sugar addiction and diabetes epidemics are very real. This is not classist moralizing, it's one key part of a vital effort to reduce deadly over-consumption of soda. Folks say why aren't they taxing yuppie drinks like lattes, but lattes are not fueling a public health crisis. Poor and working class people are already paying dearly in dollars and health for chronic diseases and health struggles resulting in good part from soda. This tax will not solve it but will help reduce over-consumption of soda and help save dollars and lives.
