What fun! I was asked by the Sterling Historical Society to create something from a buoy for an auction at their gala on Saturday October 8th at Hanff's Boatyard.
So...her name is Senorita Sirena. Come and see what other fellow artists in Greenport have designed! Talk about thinking out of the box!

I seem to have a fish obsession these days. Maybe it's because we live in a Seaport Town?
This is called
"Sacred Carp" and the medium is assemblage. Good photo taken by Monique Singh-Roy from the Northforker. Thank you!

Both Joyce and I have always been interested and involved in immigrant issues. I guess partly because we are both first generation and lived through many of the problems facing immigrants today. So I started a series of paintings and this is one of my latest. it is called
"LOOKING IN"
It is watercolor and collage on siri cloth.

So in the middle of this busy season, I managed to finish a painting entitled
"Masquerade" It is acrylic 34x42 I guess most of us realize that we are not always what we seem to be. We strike a posture and continue to seek our identity. That is what this painting is all about. As a painter, it is wonderful to embark upon the journey of a painting and have the process lead you and then find that the canvas is speaking back to you. Have the best New Year of your lives

Today is not only my grandson Conor's 15th Birthday, but it is Veterans day. i was in the Korean War as a Corpsman and my specialty was in atomic medicine and of course, this led me to my career as an artist :). I came upon this photo. I think I'm much better looking today right?

Can't get the group of high school students that I had this week for a four hour workshop out of my mind.. They were absolutely amazing and wouldn't it be wonderful if I could see the end results of what they do with what they have learned!

I love this technique (watercolor on siri cloth) because while you are painting it tends to go wild and do things that you didn't expect! In effect, it is taking you places you wouldn't ordinarily have thought to visit!

I guess I am in a fish mode! Halloween is coming and I named this one Trick or Treat! It's mixed media
