How to Report Things on Facebook

Don't have a Facebook account?

Learn more about how you can report potential abuse on Facebook.

The best way to report abusive content or spam on Facebook is by using the Find Support or Report link that appears near the content itself. To report a business you purchased something from on Facebook, you can fill out this form.

Below are some examples of how you can report content to us:

To report a profile:

  1. Go to the profile you want to report.
  2. Click to the right and select Find Support or Report Profile.
  3. To give feedback, click the option that best describes how this profile goes against our Community Standards, then click Next.
  4. Depending on your feedback, you may then be able to submit a report to Facebook. For some types of content, we don't ask you to submit a report, but we use your feedback to help our systems learn. Click Done.

If someone’s bothering you on Facebook, you can also unfriend or block them.

  1. Click on the photo or video to expand it. If the profile is locked and you can't view the full-sized photo, click Find support or report photo.
  2. Click Story Options to the right of the photo or video.
  3. Click Find Support or Report Photo for photos or Report Video for videos.
  4. Select the option that best describes the issue and follow the on-screen instructions.

To report an ad you see on Facebook:

  1. Click next to the ad you want to report
  2. Click Report ad and then follow the on-screen instructions

When you report an ad, it is subjected to our ad review system. That process relies on automated tools, and in some cases manual review, to check ads against our Advertising Policies. When we detect a violation of our policies, we will remove the ad. We continuously review ads on our platform based on many signals, including user feedback, to improve the integrity and relevance of advertising on Facebook.

  4. To give feedback, click the option that best describes how this comment goes against our Community Standards. If you don't see any options that fit, click Something Else to search for more.
  5. Depending on your feedback, you may then be able to submit a report to Facebook. For some types of content, we don't ask you to submit a report, but we use your feedback to help our systems learn.

Currently, you can't report a comment on your own profile, but you can hide or delete it. You can also block someone from seeing your profile if they post offensive comments.

How do I report a person on Marketplace?

Report a seller
If you think a seller or product violates our Commerce Policies, you can report them:
  1. From your News Feed, click Marketplace.
  2. Click a listing from the seller that you want to report.
  3. Click on the name of the seller.
  4. Click Report.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Keep in mind that we may suspend or ban sellers if they go against our Commerce Policies. Buyers who file fraudulent claims are also subject to consequences outlined in our Purchase Protection policies.
Report a buyer
  1. From your News Feed, click Marketplace.
  2. Click Your Account.
  3. Click Your Listings.
  4. Click a listing the buyer purchased.
  5. Click the message between you and the buyer. If you can't find the message, click See More.
  6. Click .
  7. Click Report Buyer.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I report or hide a listing on Marketplace?

Report or hide a listing
  1. From your News Feed, click Marketplace.
  2. Click a listing that you want to report or hide.
  3. Click .
  4. Click Hide item or Report post. To submit your report, follow the on-screen instructions.
