Sending a Message
Message Basics

To send a direct message on Facebook on a computer:
- Click
at the top right of the screen.
- Click New Message.
- Start typing a name into the To field. Names of friends will appear in a dropdown.
- Select the person or people you want to message.
- Type your message, then press enter to send.
You can also message someone by clicking Message at the top of their profile.

- When you send a message to someone you're friends with on Facebook, it gets delivered to their Facebook messages inbox.
- If the person uses Messenger, it will also be delivered to their Messenger app.
- Messages you send to people you're not Facebook friends with may arrive in their message requests.
- Once the person views your message, it will be marked as seen.

No, sent messages can't be unsent or removed from the person's inbox. Depending on the persons's notification settings, they may also receive your message as an email notification. To add someone to a group conversation:
- Click
- Open the conversation you want to add people to.
- Click
Actions and select Add Friends To Chat....
- Type the names of people you want to add.
- Click Done.

If you'd like to distribute a message to a specific group that you're a part of, you can post in the group. All members of the group will be able to see your post, and the members who've allowed group notifications will also receive a notification about your post.

To add a file to your Facebook message on desktop:
- Open the conversation you want to add a file to.
- Click
- Select Add Files....
- Click Enter to send.

To send a sticker:
- Open a chat with a friend or group of friends
- Click
- Click any sticker to send it instantly or click the arrows at the top to scroll to another sticker pack
To download more sticker packs:
- Open a chat with a friend or group of friends
- Click
- Click
to open the sticker store - Click Free or Add next to the sticker pack you want to add

To remove a sticker pack:
- Open a conversation and click
- Click
in the top-right corner - Scroll to the sticker pack you want to remove
- Click Remove
