Check it out, a three-minute trailer for the HG Chicken cartoon, designed to make those with short attention spans want to see more!
After about two years, I can finally say the HG Chicken cartoon is finished! This is the cartoon with Bobcat Goldthwait, Jonathan Katz, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry and lots of other swell folks! Thanks to all who helped make this happen, including (but not limited to) Chandra Free, Jonathan Katz, Trevor Lissauer, Samantha Newark, Julian Curwin, Sean Parrott, Kiff Scholl, Rob Burrell, Dannie Festa, Royce DeGrie, Holly Amber, Paulina Combow, Kendra Corrie, Bryce Damuth, Jesse Perry, Chad Riden, all the Kickstarter supporters, and anyone else I can't think of right now. Total running time is about 29 minutes.
(So what do you do with yourself after spending a couple of years of your life making a dopey cartoon?)
HG Chicken Animation: Done!
Animation Editing: Done!
Background Music: Done! (pretty much)
Sound Effects: Eh, working on it...
But hey, if you're one of the 20-or-so voice performers who are in the project, then you're only days away from being able to see a finished product, tell me you hate it, and demand that your voice be removed from the cartoon! (And I'm not doing it, 'cuz you signed release forms, ha ha!)
Hey, ask me what scene I just animated!
(Hey Mike, what scene did you just animate?)
Why, I’m glad you asked! The last shot of the HG Chicken cartoon! After more than two years of developing the concept, writing the script, recording dialogue in seven or eight locations around the country, release forms, editing dialogue, drawing, storyboarding, animating, and some editing… well, I forgot what I was going to say, but now all I have to do is finish editing....
So… who wants to pretty up the audio for me? I don’t know how to do that very well.
I did most of this in July. It's the start of the second scene in HG Chicken and the Chronological Order, where the evil chicken's evil lair is revealed. The good guys are all crammed into a dinky austere apartment, so I thought the bad guy needed a vast display of wealth and power where he lives by himself with a robot. No music yet.
Here's cartoon scene I did last night. The robot is playing Pong with himself. (And winning, might I add.) It didn't occur to me until last week that the actor who plays the robot (comedian Jonathan Katz) was the New York ping-pong champion for a time back in the 60s, so I guess it's fitting that the robot he voices is playing digital ping-pong. (That was purely coincidental. This scene was written over a year ago, and that just dawned on me last week. I'm pretty slow.)
Recording voices for the classroom scene in HG Chicken, Nashville performers (L-R) Bryce Damuth, Paulina Combow, Kendra Corrie & Holly Amber voice the screaming, whiny children. Because at one time, they were all screaming, whiny children. Thanks for your help!
