We have lived here in base almost 2 years and we really enjoy it. Thankfully we haven’t had too many issues since being here but when we have maintenance has been very prompt in helping us resolve our... issues. Also, we recently contacted housing seeking approval to have our carpet removed. This is a choice we made and we paid for out of pocket but housing made it very simple. They made arrangements with the Floor Store and we could not be happier! The whole process did take time but I was especially thankful for Barbara who at one point really helped us get things straightened out and scheduled so work could get done and get done fast! In general, I don't give Hickam Communities a 5 star rating but I do Corey N, one of the service technicians. He came in less than a half hour on an emergency call to repair work from the previous day... that did not go well. He was friendly, communicative and honest with the possible outcome of my freezer. It may not be fixed completely because the previous technician broke it but we are hopeful that the repair will hold and last for some time but he gave me recourse if it doesn't. Thank you, Corey for doing great what you could and being honest about it. Hopefully I won't need to see you on Monday for additional repairs. See More

I am a current resident of Hickam Communities. We have lived here for less than 1 year and it has been a nightmare! If anything breaks in your house, forget about getting it repaired correctly in a ti...mely matter. Had a leak in my wall with the only water source being the fridge on the other side. They came out, cut multiple holes around the base boards, pulled up my carpet and pad then asked if I had a fan they could use to dry it out. Mind you they did not actually repair anything. They left and did not remove the carpet tacks so it was a maze between avoiding the carpet tacks across the entry into the kitchen, the water on the floor, the wet carpet and my fan. This went on for 3 months before they finally repaired the fridge and fixed my carpet. They ended up replacing the fridge after 3 repair attempts. After that fiasco, I began contacting them about a tree that is need of a trim, this was about 6 months ago. It is still not trimmed, they keep telling me that it is on the schedule. Next, our water heater stopped working, they came out twice in 3 days and supposedly re-wired something and repaired a timer. Woke up the 4th day and still no hot water, gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited until the 5th day. The maintenance appointment line said it wasn’t an emergency and they would come out in 2 business days. Mind you there is ZERO hot water and I have 2 kids. It was somewhat repaired the next day after speaking to the community housing manager, still have very little hot water. Now, the AC is out and I’m told it’s not an emergency. It is Friday and the appt line has told us they will be out in 2 business days.

For what we pay for rent and electricity, this is absolutely ridiculous. How can this company justify $3,000 a month in rent when they offer such horrible customer service.

**Edited to add this isn't about the leasing office. They were amazing when we first moved on base.**

We have waited 3 weeks for 2 signatures to be able to do an inter community transfer. We have bee...n given dates that have passed, told our phone calls would be returned then they weren't, and given the run around. We have stopped into the office, called and done everything possible including begging to have this process completed. I've spoken to two different people in that office, one of them being the ACM (who said would return my phone call with status and never did) and we are in the same spot we have been for days now. 3 weeks for 2 signatures is ridiculous, but what's even more frustrating is the fact that they will do a lot to get you to sign a lease, then they leave you in the dust. Out of my entire military experience, including being active duty, this is by far the WORST property management company I have come into contact with. I sincerely hope something can be done about this process because as a current resident who has lived here over a year, I should be more valued than this. See More

I had a minor problem w/ my garage door opener & called maintenance (mx) to schedule an appt for today. Troy was dispatched. He was very nice and quick. Not only did he repair the garage door opener b...y making a trip to mx supply and picking up a part, but even repaired a small dent in the garage door. All of this was done taking less than 1 hour of my time away from work. See More

I just want to recognize and send a sincere kudos to Jen-ai for being a true professional and great asset to Hickam Communities Property Management staff! I had a brief encounter with her yes and spo...ke kind of harsh to her for simply doing her job. I was in the wrong and apologized for my behavior and tone of conversation I directed toward her. She maintained her composure at all times and showed the utmost respect during our encounte. She is a breath of much needed fresh air to the community and showing genuine concern for various issues that have long been neglected. I want to thank her for her understanding of my frustration and look forward to working with her in the near future. You truly are a beacon of hope that things may finally get done in our community and hopefully a place we can take great pride in living, which has been strained. Please past on my appreciation! Jen-Ai is a superstar! Would work with her over and over again. Today, after reaching out to the Facebook page for HC about an issue I was having that hadn’t been taken care of in the year I have live...d in my home they sent her my way. They told me to expect a call, she came to my house and spoke to me in person. Commendable to say the least! She then got the issue squared away in under 10 minutes. She was very kind and listened to call my concerns. Besides the landscaping issue (which is now resolved), I have no gripe. Maintenance is always on time and able to come next day. Our home has been kept up well. Love doing business with you folks. See More

Jen-ai Bullard is an excellent property manager. We love our house on Hickam. The management and maintenance staff is professional and easy to work with. The Hale Na Koa neighbor exceeded our expec...tations and we have recommended it to all our friends moving to the island. Thank you for a great move in Jen-ai! See More

Hickam Communities has a huge property to cover with over 2500 units. The repair men and care coordinators have been responsive to our requests. Yes, you do have to pitch in if you want to make your... house into a home, but HC will do their part if you make the requests and have some patience. They are willing to work with residents, but they only have so much staff to go around. Go in, get to know them, work with them. They can't sweep, water the lawn, mow the grass, kill the weeds, or beautify your home for you, but they can schedule pest control and repairs. The Home and Garden center also give out free green waste bags (2 per week), free top soil, free lawn seed, some LED bulb replacements and more. You get out what you put in! See More

Terrible management and gross failure in providing quality and timely maintenance. Expect 34+ days to pass as you wait for your ac to be fixed. Always waiting on a part ”to get here from the Mainland”... and I could go on and on and on. Just bad. See More

My move-in experience was wonderful. Jen-ai was very thorough and even told me what to use to keep the critters out of my home. She was super sweet & down to earth and genuine. My house was clean and ...in good condition. The only reason I give 4 of 5 stars is that my backyard wasn't already cut when I moved in. Other than that, I recommend this community. See More

Man if I could rate negative stars I would. My first 4 days here have been a nightmare. My carpet is filthy. My son and wife feet are black from the dirt. From day we voiced our concerns about the car...pet. The leasing agent assured us the carpet would be cleaned. Mind you our original move in date was the 1st of June but due to the moving company get the wrong date we were pushed back, more than enough time to replace the carpet. The day before our move my wife does a second walk through and the carpet is still horrible. They didn't even vacuum it. We complain to management and it turns out she hadn't even looked at the carpet herself she let someone else make a decision. So today she comes and says best she can do it a carpet cleaning. When clearly the carpet needs to be replaced. It's matted down with spots all over it. She know for a fact she wouldn't want her kids to walk on around on this filth so why make mine do it? Not to mention nothing works the first time you turn it on. Went to turn on my kitchen light and it started burning. The washer and dryer come on when they're ready. This is my first time living in base housing and I'm positive this is my last time living it. Crazy part my buddies on the mainland told me this was the housing to get. Maybe they played a evil joke on me? See More

To start off, the house itself isn't too bad. I'm sure However the Maintainence staff is ridiculous. Our A/C unit broke a month ago (24 may 17) and it took them 4 days to come out and diagnose the iss...ue. They obviously didn't have the part, no big deal because my family and I were flying back to the mainland for 3 weeks on vacation. When we asked about maybe getting the temporary window units they denied us. Mx said they would be calling us the day after we left to talk about the issues. We never received calls at all. My wife and I must have called at least a dozen times over the last 3 weeks to ask if our unit has been fixed, each time getting a run around answer and saying they will call us right back. Which brings us to yesterday, my wife received a call saying that the part needed was never ordered because it wasn't updated in the system. Seriously? I finally called Hickam Communities office, they said they would call back, still havnt heard anything. When I suggested to take the parts needed to fix our A/C from an empty house, they said they don't want to take parts from a working available house. So you're telling me you'd rather dupe potential customers, than keep existing customers happy? We are paying a serious amount of money for a so-so house. I will be telling people from now on to avoid Hickam housing and go to Navy housing instead.

On a positive note, the Lady that came out to inspect our A/C unit was absolutely awesome. She was super nice and tried helping us anyway she could.

The house we live I is fine not many issues so far and the few we have had where taken care of in a decent amount of time, that said this place is a mess we live at a dead end behind the CDC and the r...oad is always a mess the road is covered is leaves and seeds from the trees. they told us they where going to cut the coconuts down but that hasn't happened. I love the wild chickens they help with the cockroaches but they had people out killing them that's right right by the CDC where your kids play in a community they where shooting chickens. If I had to choose all over I wouldn't live here See More
