year and you just click it and tell people to tune in with us Yeah they don't get to take that from us it's exactly right alright y'all um so I'm ashley wooden henderson I'm Allen maxfield steel we're the Co executive directors of the highlander research and education Center um it's been one hell of a week um and we didn't say what's up yesterday um because we are still in the midst of uh of our work and um you know finding our new normal but we wanted one to just give you all so much gratitude and so much love y'all had flanked and supported us in ways that we never could have imagined understand yeah it's like Overwhelming in the best of ways um and so we just wanted to take a moment um for all the love and support that you've shown to give that love and gratitude right back to you um whether it was you know making sure we ate or like drink water um sending your love and condolences to our staff and board members um or even see in the ways that you plank to support each other as we grieve the loss of the main office um we have been overwhelmed um and those those Examples of your love and support has sustained us in this really trying week um your financial support has been unbelievable like unbelievable like we did not put out a pitch on Friday for people to give us money uh the only reason we ultimately did ask for donations was because people said uh they wanted to um so as a way of being able to do something um from a far we put that as an option and you all showed up and showed out so to each and everyone of Did gave her that did share especially before we put out um that is a potential step to support like love you forever um it's gonna mean that this work continues and then it happens in a way that we can love and support each other and keep each other safe um and then the third thing that I wanna thank you for that we wanna thank you for um is for telling your highlander stories I learned so much about stuff that y'all have done here People that I didn't know connected to highlander um we've got in messages of love and connectivity in languages that I don't read um we've gotten messages from people in the Philippines Japan Kenya South Africa palestine like y'all every corner of the globe every southern state um nearly all of the United States um is in some way said like love and support to our highlander family um and then Yang and being stewards of your stories um about how you connect to this place what program you participated in uh what people you met we found out people met their pick their spouses you know on the Hill or on the old land um we you know if you heard about like ways that you've been transformed because of your connection to this place um and those that love that support and those stories um we're most definitely like the the light in the in the storm um and so We just wanna say thank you from like the bottom of our hearts for all that you've done um I know that folks want updates um we want more information to um all the we can confirm is that the investigation is ongoing and I can promise you that we are both surviving it and monitoring it very closely um and that as soon as we have information that we can share we will um I want you to know that our primary purpose is to continue to be this movement catalyst that we've been since 19 32 and how we do that is really important um so we want you to continue being rooted in love an apology Love for our people uh we want you to keep your eyes on the prize of collective Liberation is our goal um that we are you know the midwest of the new America that needs to be born and we know that that's not segregated or separated from uh the the sort of uprising in the oppression of our people globally um and so keep on keeping on and the work that you're doing uh know that we see you and we love you uh what's up to our Mississippi fan we love family person we love y'all My oh my gosh that's great love you michaela love shirt like I love all y'all um so yeah no that we we want you to keep doing what you're doing and we intend to keep doing the movement a compliment and support work that we've committed our lives like very literally in some ways now um our lives too um and and be vigilant about your safe um so that's that's what we need you to do that's how we'll know that we're doing what's right is if you keep winning out there um and the holidays and hoods that you are responsible for um and so yeah we were And we're okay we're physically okay um our staff has been incredible y'all they're like a Dream team um our board has been incredible um and all of you have been so so so so fabulous so um know that as we're able to we'll be giving you updates um but the investigation is ongoing and until that wraps up we don't have anything that we can confirm for you that's any different than what we knew on Friday um What we can say is that as we have official statements to be said they will be on our on our social media so they'll be on twitter they'll be here on our facebook page they'll be on instagram um so if it is something reported in the press if we haven't confirmed it at you know again go but we we are sticking to the script so go uh to our pages and see what's up um what what we know so far is in the statement so uh be sure to check them out feel free to share them widely um and keep telling Highlander stories um keep sharing the post about what you can do to support us um we'll be very very clear about the ways that solidarity can be practiced in principal ways through giving you consistent updates about what we need um you know what we don't need is people saying that the archives are gone that's not true uh we don't need people saying highlander has been destroyed that's true we're right here um the work is still continuing so you know spread spread what we've said is true um that would be Super incredibly helpful um so know that you know we love you that was we're doing everything we can to be safe People safe uh that we want you to continue to do your incredible lifesaving new world birthing work um and then as long as you're doing that highlander will be alive um and well and that the southern freedom movement will continue to grow and change what is possible in this country and in the world we love y'all love you so much I love him to he's been a rock star oh so yeah no that we love you and we'll be in touch we'll talk to you um Super Um I'm gonna do the shout out thing cuz y'all are incredible um veronica lumbar you are an angel I'm so grateful for you uh lisa we see you came to highlander in the eighty swoop that was a great decade okay uh in mega candy appreciate you love to our comrades in maine y'all have been showing up and showing out and support a highlander for a long time but definitely since the since the fire on Friday caitlin thank you robi Robbie like campo uh I see some staff on the I'm alive what's up staff uh love you all love you so much Reed get some rest staff we love y'all rees we love you comrade vernon shout out to our our folks that are fighting for a just transition essential appalachia we see you uh Ben love you much comrade good to see you See you heather we love you we love you so much and love your family so much thank you for all the ways that y'all have consistently loved and supported us and shared your family with us um we are grateful for you susan of lucky to study at app state uh with so many involved with highlander love and respect like love and respect back to you grandma thank you um so there's probably so many more people to shout out and love and and love on uh feel free to keep telling your highlander stories right here in the comment thread um if you jumped on We got we see We love you we're here for you if there's any way we can be supportive of y'all as you all continue to do your work we are here um again we love you um and be sure to like love and support each other and be vigilant about y'all safety um as well we've seen we've got all your text messages and your emails about the black churches that have been burning in Louisiana about uh things that have happened in North Carolina we've seen it um we hear you we know that there is You know an uprising in the consolidation of power and resources of people that would not want our work to be successful and what we are committed to um is continuing to do this work rooted in love love for y'all love for each other um and love and belief in a world where everybody has what they need and can live in their fullest dignity um together um because we deserve it we've always deserve it um so now that we see you we love you brit it's great to see you uh sure Live love love love love love to you liz yo big ups to Jackson man that's it that's my home away from home uh you are a freedom fighter who is consistently taught us how to fight thank you for being on here shout out to the West Virginia teachers and all the young people that have been supporting that incredible work y'all changed what people thought was possible in the labor movement in the South and start a movement across the
