HITS Thermal my look pretty, but crime is a massive problem and management is contempt to do nothing about it. For the last 10 years, items like motorcycles, golf carts, bicycles, saddles, HORSE TRAIL...ERS, are stolen nightly. Not just one or two either, several at a time. Even after my own equipment was stolen, I told management, nothing changed, and more things were stolen the next night. See More

I have been to 3 shows at Balmoral. I found that it to be a harsh environment to show in and not all that fun. You wait and wait for your class in no shade with no access to water and if you go back t...o the barn or trailer to let your horse rest and drink and you are super anxious that you are going to miss your class. I told the gate person (Grand Prix ring) that I was going to make the trip back to my trailer and what my number was and he just gave me a dirty look.
I think it would be nice to build an "oasis" of sorts along the trail with shade, PA speaker, and water pumps. You can use those disposable ice buckets so that it's sanitary.
Also, it was not trailer-in friendly. (I know I'm one of the rare people that still do this). There were no water pumps ANYWHERE except up at the stalls so I had to carry a bucket all the way back to my trailer while my thirsty horse was waiting after a VERY long morning spent mostly waiting for other competitors.
Office and gate staff (with the exception of the showplace productions crew) were rude. They made me feel stupid for asking questions. When you are an amateur showing without a trainer you need a little more support and not feel so alone.. they made me feel straight up unwelcome.
I have only been able to get through to s live person in the show office once and when I leave messages I don't get a call back. The one time I spoke to someone she had no idea about their refund policy for scratching and told me to call back later. I called the central HITS office and they were very prompt and looked me up and credited my money for another week.

I have been asked to let people know the real scoop on Balmoral.
In my humble opinion the merging of HITS and Showcase Productions is going to create the most amazing show grounds and horse shows in... the country.
Let's start with the horses.
Wonderful shed row barns,12 x 12 rubber matted stalls, 15 foot aisle. Completely redone from top to bottom, Knee boards along the outsides aisles all rebuilt with the original lumber.
Multiple turn out paddocks
Countless places to hack ,huge open areas , the track, sand paths lunging areas and grazing for your horses everywhere.
The infield is a rolling grass meadow.
New landscaping everywhere.
Multiple all footing rings( 8?)that hold up in a lot of rain, I can attest to this. More warm up areas than you can imagine .
Beautiful jumps and ring dressings.
From what I can see the only part that one should be prepared for it is a bit of a hike from some of the barns, that by the way have bathrooms and tacks rooms in them.
Golf cart paths
Giant office area with very cool sitting areas while you wait to enter your horse and settle your accounts!
Outdoor viewing locations with tables and chairs
Hard to describe the club house, capable of holding hundreds of people.
Three levels , restaurants, bars.
Front of the building is all glass over looking the race track. They left the original Start line .
The first level restaurants ,bars, all the tack shops and vendors, tables chairs, seats to watch the Grandprix and Main hunter ring, did I mention open to everyone. You can see all the rings from the club house.
The second level will be for sponsors, table owners etc . Full restaurant service and again multiple bars.
The third floor is for private box holders with all amenities.
The race track history is everywhere you look. Fantasic photographs, history museum and retro furniture.
Party houses , oh my ,way too much to describe! Golf Course next door belongs to them also!
This venue could not be reproduced! Structures are not made like this anymore!
Worth the effort to make the trip.
Pat and Tom congratulations for putting your talents together to create this top level venue.

Last weekend was our first time at a Hits Chicago show at Balmoral Park. The barns were beautiful with large open stalls. Our horses loved them even considering the bad weather. The footing was unbeli...evable and you could not even tell how much it had rained. Our horses were extremely happy there. Golf carts were needed to get from ring to ring or barn to ring. The company renting carts was so nice and professional and exchanged carts when we had a problem with one. Horses and riders loved the walk or trot from barn to ring, giving them time to stretch and relax before and after their classes. The office staff was helpful and friendly. There are lots of stores to purchase items we needed or forgot or just wanted to have. Lots of food options and a full bar for drink options. Just really enjoyed our weekend there and can't wait to go back in a few weeks. See More

So this in many ways is a great well run show. My specific complaint is the way they treated my division. 2'6" hunters. First classes were cancelled as the ring was too busy. Not rescheduled- which c...ould have been an option. Second the last day of the show they could not be bothered to water and drag the ring. My poor horse has a respiratory problem and almost choked on all the dust. She was coughing and sneezing constantly. If you are going to take my money I deserve the same quality experience as folks showing over bigger fences !! See More

Don't waste a dollar of gasoline going to his shows. Unless u like office staff that's cruel and rude. Stabling that's unhealthy. Footing that ll lame your horses. And grosslyover priced. Food u would... feed your pigs. See More

Decent footing in the rings with cool trees. But, the place is basically a dump, the temporary tents have inadequate electrical power, the pathways are rutted, office staff is hostile, and too few re...stroom facilities. Not going back. See More

We want to thank Tom Struzzieri, Kristen Vale-Mosack, Gloria Manning and Nick Ezzo for their assistance and generosity during Hurricane Matthew.
We were very fortunate to be able to escape the wrath o...f the storm at HITS Post Time. We are grateful to have had a safe comfortable home away from home for all of our horses.

My husband and I enjoyed watching all the beautiful horses. To see in person how skilled the riders are, being one with their horse. Not only the trust from the rider of his/her horse; But the respect... to the horse if they didn't want to do a certain jump. Very Awesome experience. See More
