The Harvard Law Forum is hosting Harvard's leading philosopher of civic republicanism, Michael Sandel, next Wednesday in the HLS Forum: https://www.facebook.com/events/1777959259192150/

In his 90's book Democracy's Discontent, Sandel warned that, absent a stronger civic republican spirit, liberalism would collapse, giving way to "those who would shore up borders, harden the distinction between insiders and outsiders, and promise a politics to 'take back our culture and take back our county.'" He's coming to the forum to discuss if he was right and, if so, what we can do about it.

"Could this mean THE PRODUCERS HAVE BEEN LYING TO US?! I AM SHOCKED! Shocked. So shocked."

See what 3L Laura Dismore found so shocking in this week's recap of The Bachelor!

"I just don't believe that Nick Viall is genuinely experiencing these emotions, and I find him utterly unsympathetic. Raven might have countless excuses for him, but I do not."

"Complaints ... cited noise, late night parties, rude behavior and poor upkeep as reasons for [SCOTUS nominee Gorsuch's social club] to be shut down."

When Gorsuch was on the board of Lincoln's Inn, a neighborhood petition circulated to disband it for "rowdy, selfish, and 'anti-social' behavior." Read about it here!

Editor's note: President Trump nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the late Justice Scalia's seat on the United States Supreme Court this past Tuesday.

Welcome back to The Bachelor! It’s nice to know that, even as Earth burns down around us, some things in this tumultuous world remain constant: for example, by the fifth episode everyone’s roots are showing because they can’t get their hair dyed during taping, contestants start telling the Bachelor

The Harvard Law Review has elected ImeIme Umana '18 as its first black woman president. Barack Obama served as the first black president of the Law Review in 1990-1991.

Dozens of HLS students went to downtown Boston today to participate in protests against President Trump's executive orders limiting immigration and entry by non-citizens into the United States.

"Any way that Moroccans saw America as a force for good is getting swamped by Trump," said 2L Mike Maruca, who served two years in the Peace Corps in Morocco. "Going to the march was the least I could do [to push back against Trump]."

"Waukesha County is one of the most conservative counties in the country. It is extremely white and fairly wealthy... But hey! Nick’s family is cool!"

At the start of Week 4’s episode, Corinne asks the camera, “Why are [the other girls] so obsessed with me?” At first, it sounds like the smug redirection of an attention-seeker who’s been called out for her nonsense. But as the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Corinne kind of has a point.

"The gap [between constituents in different parts of the US] must be bridged, and an important forum for this is in the classrooms where the nation’s future leaders are developing the intellectual frameworks through which they will see the world."

LLM Evelyn Douek shares her thoughts on the results of several Record surveys.

The good news is HLS students want them, but the bad news is we’re trapped in a bubble Everyone is talking about how we university students talk. The nation seems to have convened a public forum to debate our debates. From courtrooms, to newspapers, to podcasts, to research reports – the state of

2L Robbie Gustafson describes his daily train ride in the Philippines.

I ride the train to work every day. I've always heard that this train is an awful way to travel. But the traffic is so bad. 25 minutes on the train compared to 90 minutes in traffic. How bad could it be? When I tell people I commute on the train, they say "Wow," or "I'm sorry," or "And you survived

Oh boy. This week’s episode checks basically every box you could have on a Bachelor bingo card: a helicopter, wedding dresses, full-on boobs, “not here to make friends,” questioning motives, a slap across the face, a contestant getting booted early, and a to-be-continued instead of a rose ceremony.
